Rebel Wilson has revealed that she chose comedic acting roles due to the massive weight gain she experienced.
The 41-year-old Aussie raised how suffering from PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) caused her to put on crazy amounts of weight during her twenties.
Due to this excessive weight gain, the Pitch Perfect actress who played the character 'Fat Amy' said she opted for comedy roles as it relied less on appearance to secure acting jobs.
In a recent interview with the Life Uncut Podcast host, the Hollywood actress who recently lost a whopping 5.5 stone opened up about she was "once a normal size."
She said: "Being bigger I was kind of the normal size, maybe more on the athletic side when I was a teenager.
"And then I had something called polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS] and one of the side effects is that you can gain weight rapidly when you're 20/21."
She added: "So obviously I knew I was a bigger girl so I was like you just got to embrace it so that's why I went into comedy acting because I knew how much power comedians can have, people are more likely to laugh at people they don't want to have sex with."
Rebel highlighted how most people in comedy "often have something physical about them that's abnormal" – it's for this reason they are more likely to pursue roles in comedy.
She expressed: "Those people tend to do better in comedy, so I turned what was turned into a lot of agents as a disadvantage into my advantage."
On the topic of her incredible weight loss, Rebel opened up about her decision to lose weight and get healthier in 2020.
She said: "I'm turning 40 I knew I can be healthier… I'm gonna make the big change and lose the excess weight, I had a lot of push-back from that."
Last May, The Hustle actress candidly admitted to feeling "sad" that she'd waited until the age of 40 to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
She finished with: "But everybody's journey is different, and it's not a race or competition."
