Dan Walker, 43, felt on top of the world and half a stone lighter after he had his mane trimmed for “hopefully” the final time at his home. Now lockdown is easing, hairdressers and barbers across England have been able to open their doors and welcome back clients who were in desperate need of a mop chop.

Feel like I’ve lost about half a stone

Taking to Twitter, Dan shared before and after photos of the tranformation that left him feeling a lot lighter.

“Hopefully that is the end of home haircuts,” he penned.

“Lovely to see Sam again. Feel like I’ve lost about half a stone #AreYouFedUpWithHaircutPicturesYet.”

Fans rushed to the comments section to share their opinions on his new look.

“That’s better!” one exclaimed, “Had mine done yesterday and had it extra-short in case there’s another lockdown…”

Another joked: “At least Winnie won’t be embarrassed to be seen out with you now!” referring to his TV savvy cockapoo dog.

But others admitted they preferred the longer style on the BBC Breakfast presenter.

One wrote: “Aww Dan, I like it before lol.”(sic)

“Which one is before or after?” a second quipped.

Earlier this year, Dan revealed he let his wife Sarah tackle his unruly locks single-handedly after he went on to “butcher” his mop back in July 2020.

At the time, the 44-year-old praised his spouse for doing an “amazing” job, before he got a little too scissor happy which led to him ruining all of her hard work.

In fact, it was so bad that the telly star couldn’t share the results of his new do.

Instead, he shared a sweet throwback photo of himself as a child sporting a rather questionable hairdo.

Captioning the snap on the social media site, he wrote: “My wife finally agreed to cut my hair.

“She has done an amazing job. Sadly, I decided to have a little trim of the fringe afterwards and… I have butchered it.”

He added: “It is SO bad I can’t even show you an actual picture of the scissor shame. This will have to do.”

Elsewhere, it’s been rumoured that Alex Scott will be taking over from Dan on Football Focus, after he announced last week he would be stepping down from his role after 12 years in the hot seat.

While speculation has been rife as to who could fill his shoes in the leading position, with names such as former professional footballer Jermaine Jenas thrown into the ring, the BBC has reportedly signed up Alex to oversee proceedings on the show after being a pundit for the network for several years.

A source told The Sun: “Alex was deemed the perfect fit for the role. After her stint on Strictly in 2019, her popularity went through the roof.”

But a BBC spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “An announcement on the new presenter will be made in due course.”
