Duran Duran Pay Tribute To David Bowie With Cover Of ‘Five Years’

Duran Duran paid tribute to David Bowie by releasing a new cover of his 1972 classic “Five Years.”

“Five Years” is the opening track from the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.

The English new wave band also performed during the virtual Bowie tribute concert, “A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day,” on Friday, January 8, which would have been Bowie’s 74th birthday.

Proceeds of the event, featuring Boy George, Adam Lambert, Michael C. Hall, Ian Hunter, Trent Reznor and Billy Corgan, will go to Save the Children, once supported by Bowie.

In a statement remembering the legendary musician, Simon Le Bon said Bowie was a great inspiration in his life.

“He is the reason why I started writing songs. Part of me still can’t believe in his death five years ago, but maybe that’s because there’s a part of me where he’s still alive and always will be,” said the Duran Duran lead singer.
