Helen Skelton absolutely devastated as ex Richie holidays with new girlfriend

Helen Skelton has been left feeling “devastated” after her estranged husband Richie Myler posted a string of loved-up holiday snaps with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill last week.

Shortly after their shock split in April following eight years of marriage, rugby star Richie began dating Stephanie, who is the daughter of the president of his club, Leeds Rhinos.

While Helen, who shares three children with Richie – Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and seven-month-old Elsie Kate – is now focusing on the future, a source says it’s understandably difficult for her to see.

“Helen is devastated,” our source revealed. “It’s one thing knowing it’s happening, but it’s another thing actually seeing it.

"For him to post it all over Instagram has been hard. She feels like this is rubbing it in her face, and it’s a knife to the heart. It just seems a bit insensitive.”

In the Instagram photos, Richie, 32, can be seen standing next to Stephanie, also 32, with their arms wrapped around each other
as they enjoyed a trip to Cornwall.

Alongside the post, which also featured a video of him swimming in the sea and a picture of the harbour, Richie wrote, “Cornwall was worth a 32 year wait,” with a sunshine and love heart emoji. Stephanie gushed, “Thanks for the best weekend! LOVE YOU.”

Richie made their romance Instagram official last month, as he shared a snap of the pair at Wimbledon together. Meanwhile, Helen, 39, has remained tight-lipped about the breakdown of their marriage, but recently hinted at her struggles, admitting her life is currently “chaos”.

Our source continued: “Helen has kept a dignified silence. All of her friends are rallying around her. They’re supporting her and keeping her spirits up. She’s focusing on the kids and work. She’s not ready to get back out there on the dating scene, but her friends would like her to meet someone.”

At the time of the split, the Countryfile presenter said she was “very sad” to announce she and Richie were no longer a couple, and that he had “left the family home” as they attempted to co-parent.

Helen has also opened up about the things she’s learnt when it comes to balancing work and motherhood. “Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, no one knows what happens behind closed doors,” she said in June. “Lists and diaries are good. If

I write down things I need to do, it’s a weight off my brain.”

She also revealed that walking the family dog “helps my head” and that her children are “happier outside”. She explained, “They eat better and sleep better after being outside during the day, and I don’t feel guilty about screen time if they have been in a tree for a few hours.

“They’re nicer to each other outside, too. My kids just like to get muddy. As long as I have snacks, I can keep them outside for ages. We love the Lakes, the Yorkshire coast and the Peaks.”
