Piers Morgan has shared his views on the morning TV battle on Twitter today. The outspoken journalist wasted no time in replying to BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani.

Kills me to see these dullards crowing again

The 56-year-old said it “kills” him to see Good Morning Britain’s BBC rival soaring in the ratings once again.

He pointed out that GMB had finally triumphed over them with his last ever show in March.

Followng his sudden exit, the BBC show is “crowning again”, much to his displeasure.

He said it had been a “long” eight weeks, before being urged to return by some of his 7.9 million followers on the micro-blogging website.

Richard had initially informed his 14,000 fans: “Wow. Huge numbers for #BBCBreakfast on Friday.”

He continued: “With an average share of 46.2 per cent and the largest audience so far in 2021.

“Key interviews, major stories, sport, weather and entertainment make it by far the #MostWatched morning show. Thank you.”

The instalment he was referring to saw the likes of Professor Linda Bauld, Dr Chris Smith, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham and Nadhim Zahawi MP appear.

Piers shared the news while reminding of the peak audience GMB pulled in during his final instalment.

He wrote: “I hear @GMB’s share was 18 per cent yesterday.

“For perspective, on my last day, @GMB’s share was 35 per cent and the BBC’s was 33 per cent.”

He added: “It’s been a long two months. Kills me to see these dullards crowing again.”

His brutal message saw many ask for him to go back to the programme, which has been hosted by Susanna Reid and temporary presenter Alastair Campbell for much of this week.

“TV is nothing without you,” one user told him. “I’ve been wearing a black armband since you left!”

Another agreed: “I don’t always agree with you but you are missed on GMB.”

“They need you back Piers! Would you ever go back if offered?” a third asked.

A fourth pointed out: “But wasn’t the big peak on that day caused by you storming off and then going viral, driving viewers to the show?”

Piers walked off the set of GMB during a disagreement with co-star Alex Beresford, over Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview.

He later quit the ITV offering, saying he refused to apologise for saying he disbelieved the Duchess of Sussex.

The father-of-four will however return to ITV, it has been announced today, to host Life Stories with Labour leader Keir Starmer.
