Lucy Pargeter, 44, plays Chas Dingle on the popular ITV soap, while 31-year-old Danny Miller played her son Aaron Dingle. Danny’s on-screen mum has admitted that he will be sorely missed on the show.

Last year on November 16, the partnership between the acting duo came to an end when Danny decided to leave the soap.

Later that month, Danny would go on to be crowned king of the castle in the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

While Danny was camping in the grounds of Gwrych Castle, his character Aaron left the dales after his boyfriend Ben (Simon Lennon) was murdered and Live (Isobel Steele) was arrested for the crime.

The Emmerdale favourite also received an emotional send-off from mum Chas as he drove away from the village.

Now Lucy has opened up about how much she misses her on-screen son in an interview with OK! Magazine.

She said: “Every time I walk into work, I’m expecting him to phone me and go, ‘I’m stuck on the M62, it’s absolutely rammed, can you tell them I’m going to be 10 minutes late?’

“Or walking past his dressing room and seeing him.

“I’m missing him massively, but we’re on the phone all the time and I spoke to him just the other day about getting to see him, his partner Steph and their son Albert.”

When Danny entered the jungle, it was mere weeks after his little boy, Albert, was born.

The soap actor and his fiancée Steph Jones welcomed their son into the world on October 25, 2021.

I’m A Celebrity then launched approximately one month later on November 21.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Danny explained that starting a new family was part of his big decision to quit Emmerdale and give reality TV a try.

He said: “I’ve actually left Emmerdale and unfortunately decided to start a new path in life.

“I’ve got my baby now and I’m getting married next year and it felt like the right time to open a new chapter in my life.

“It feels so strange telling people because I haven’t really talked about it. I feel quite emotional about it actually.”

He went on to detail the time commitment that comes with appearing on a soap week after week.

Danny continued: “Our lives are run by block schedules and life goes really quickly on a soap. I’ve been there 13 years, I had a little break but 13 years ago I started as Aaron.

“I grew up with him and I feel very protective of him and I think it was time for him to start a new life. We work Monday to Friday, 7am until 7pm so for me, having a new baby and a lot of people on the cast know, it’s very difficult to spend much time with them.

“You don’t get a lot of time off if you’re busy and for me it was a decision to be in the best position possible.”

Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
