Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, 30, has joined the panel in the hope of unveiling 12 hidden celebrities whose identities are behind elaborate costumes. The show kicks off this evening following the success of The Masked Singer UK.

Along with panellists Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall, Oti’s task is to guess who the stars are, based on their dance moves and a series of clues.

While she may be the most qualified for the job, the dancer has claimed she was actually “terrible” at the role.

She said: “I thought I would be okay at it but I am so terrible at it.

“Oh my gosh! It’s actually hurting me a little bit because I was like, ‘Oh I’ve got this, I probably know them and they’ve all done some show that I work on’, but it’s hard.

“It’s really, really difficult. I am slowly becoming a baby Jonathan with my suggestions.”

On how she’s settled in on the panel, she went on to say: “It’s an amazing guessing show that’s fun and, for me, it’s just an honour and a privilege to get to do it with such incredible people like Jonathan, Davina, Mo and Joel [Dommett].

“We are constantly laughing! There is great banter and chemistry and coming to work is a joy.”

From ballet to ballroom, salsa to swing and everything in between, the celebrities’ alter egos include; Zip, Carwash, Beagle and Flamingo.

The Masked Dancer comes to screens following the successful series two of The Masked Singer UK.

The show was won by singer Joss Stone, followed by Ne-Yo as Badger and Aston Merrygold as Robin.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, the latter said he believes the dance version of the show could be difficult to judge.

He said: “Dancing is very hard to judge anyway, so trying to judge it and guess who moves like that, it’s going to be difficult.

“I feel for the panel on this one. It’ll be interesting, it’ll be another fun one.”

But, the JLS singer added he would’ve loved to have been a part of it.

He went on to say: “I’ve been in this industry a long time so I can pass along my wisdom and critique now.

“I’ve been a part of some of the biggest stages and shows.

“It’s all part of the fun and it’s a bit of a bonus for any performer to get those kinds of chances.”

On whether he could be a hidden celebrity again, he joked: “You never know, I might not be able to tell you.”

Discussing his experience on The Masked Singer, the father-of-two said he was glad to be a part of the show which “brought people together”.

The Masked Dancer airs from Saturday 29th May at 7pm on ITV and the ITV Hub.
