TV chef James Martin admitted he has been targeted by scammers on social media. The star of Saturday Morning on ITV left a warning message as he shared what to steer clear of.

The star posted about this earlier today on his Instagram account with a statement.

James posted this via the Story feature to his 670,000 followers.

He penned: “A few words about scam accounts…

“Please note I do not have ‘Private Fan Pages’ or accounts.

“All my social media accounts are verified and show the tick.”

James went on to share how some tricksters have taken his pictures to confuse fans.

He added: “Please be aware of scammers who are using images scraped from my accounts to try to look authentic.

“Please do not hand over money or personal details to anyone claiming to be me.”

James then ended his post with the plea: “Stay safe, J x.”

The former star of Saturday Kitchen also went on to share the update on his Twitter page as well.

Following this, many of the star’s fans reached out to him with their own experiences.

Wendy Baker wrote: “I certainly am now James after receiving two.

“One was very believable until reading them then they give themselves away. (sic)

“Guess they just want to be popular for a bit imagining they are you! They need to get a life!”

Lorraine Hancock added: “I’ve been reporting a number of spam accounts purporting to be you for quite a while now and will continue to do so.

“We know who the real James Martin is.”

JuneC replied: “Thank you for extra warning.

“I always report any of your and others scam accounts. (sic)

“There’s plenty going around atm x.”

Sazzy Sandra added: “Thank you James for the warning of these spam accounts.”

Elsewhere, James has been promoting his new book Butter, which is full of recipes.

The cookbook is described as essential for “anyone who loves to cook with this glorious, versatile ingredient.”

It features 130 original recipes, including everything from French Onion Soup to Dover sole Meunière.
