With Kate Bush back in the charts and a Barbie movie in the works, it feels like we are all donning cycling shorts and heading back to the 1980s. 

The same is true for perfume, with shoppers snapping up retro fragrances that had their heyday in the 1980s, according to retail experts. 

Online retailer Perfume Direct revealed there has been a 125 per cent surge in sales of classic perfume from the decade in the last month. 

Among the bestsellers are Calvin Klein Obsession, Estee Lauder Beautiful Eau de Parfum, and Cacharel Anais Anais Eau de Toilette.

The oldest favourite is YSL Opium Eau de Toilette, which was released in 1977 and proved itself as a big player in the 1980s.
