Is Amazon Essentials worth it?
We had never bought clothes on Amazon prior to ordering from Amazon Essentials, so had quite low expectations, considering we mainly use it for buying books and random home necessities. But when our order arrived (less than 24 hours after ordering), we found ourselves complementing the quality and fit of every item.
For around £60, we bought a fleece, two sports bras and a striped top – the fleece was most expensive at £30 which is around the highest price point on Amazon Essentials for womenswear.
Here's what we tested:
Amazon Essentials Studio T-Shirt
- Amazon Essentials Women's Studio T-Shirt, from £7.93 from Amazon – buy here
As someone who is tall and a size 10-12, we were sceptical about ordering a medium (£16) but went ahead and the sizing ended up being perfect! The arms are long and it's not a close fit at all, so there's no need to size up on this one.
We especially loved the thumb holes for an extra bit of warmth when it's cold – as it's cut from stretch-cotton fabric, you don't feel restricted at all, plus they add a stylish edge to what would otherwise be a simple black striped top.
The fabric is silky soft too meaning it can pass as a more expensive go-to piece, whether you're layering or wearing it with baggy jeans and gold jewellery. We're thinking of ordering it in Grey Camo next…
Amazon Essentials Polar Fleece Lined Jacket
- Amazon Essentials Polar Fleece Lined Jacket, from £23.80 at Amazon – buy here
The Polar Fleece Lined Sherpa jacket was by far our favourite purchase of our Amazon Essentials order, mainly for being so soft inside and out. It literally feels like a fleece blanket.
In terms of the fit, we went for an XL but it's not particularly big – the sizing is supposed to be fitted, so we definitely recommend sizing up on this one for added comfort.
There are also nine other styles to choose from, we opted for funky leopard print but there are more plain styles available as well.
This fleece arrived just as heavy snow hit London, so we put it straight on to see whether it would keep us toasty. And it definitely did. We didn't even need to wear a scarf as it zips high up your neck, wrapping it with fluffy warmth – bliss.
Amazon Essentials 2-Pack Light Support Sports Bras
- Amazon Essentials 2-Pack Light Support Sports Bras, from £14.36 at Amazon – buy here
We ordered medium of the 2-Pack Light Support Seamless Sports Bras which came to £14.59 – we knew it was a bargain so again, we weren't expecting high quality sports bras.
Yet, the comfortable, smooth and skin-tight feel fits really comfortably under the arms (we're a 10-12) and the padding can also be removed if you don't like it – we recommend keeping it in for more support though.
Our favourite thing about these sports bras is definitely their generous stretch, giving you full flexibility to work out until your heart's content. Would buy again for the price and the quality.
