Baby guru says pressing ‘poop button’ on child’s foot helps relieve constipation

A baby guru has shown parents an easy hack that can help ease painful constipation in babies.

Mum and certified massage instructor, Elina Furmanm, shared how to activate the "poop button" in the useful tip for mums, dads, and caregivers.

She uploaded the tip in a TikTok video, claiming it only takes "seconds" to work.

Elina, CEO of Kahlmi which specialises in baby massage, explains that the hack is down to pressing a few pressure points on the tot's body.

For children who are experiencing painful constipation, parents can massage certain areas on the soles of their feet to help them out.

Speaking in the clip, she explains: "First with reflexology just rub across the small intestine and the large intestine, then make small circles in the middle of the foot.”

Captioning the post she wrote: "You won't believe how fast they poop."

She displays the technique on a dummy baby and says that the foot corresponds to various organs.

The tip is simple and is completed in just one smooth action of rubbing the sole of the foot.

In doing so, parents can supposedly help activate the large and small intestine.

Elina says the action will "energise" the intestines and help alleviate constipation.

After rubbing the foot, you can then massage small circles in the middle of the sole to complete the process.

Acupressure experts agree that applying the right touch on the "poop button: can relieve many issues, including stomach problems and period cramps.

The infant massage instructor also suggested that some tots need longer time than others.

Constipation can be a common issue for children and babies, and those suffering from chronic constipation not only endure discomfort but suffer emotional and behavioural problems.

The NCT, UK charity for parents, found in a 2004 study that intensive care unit babies who were massaged more spent less time in hospital.

The report showed they had slightly better scores on developmental tests than tots who weren't massaged.

One expert on the site wrote: "You might also talk softly, hum or sing to them while massaging to create a sense of calm and reassurance for your baby.

"It can also be helpful to start baby massage after your baby’s six-week check so any issues with development, such as hip dysplasia, might be identified."
