A 26-year-old babysitter wrote a song about eating disorders after the young girl she babysits was bullied for the way she looks in a swimsuit at Victoria’s Secret.

TikToker and music artist Jax, from New York, took to TikTok to share a hit song she wrote promoting positive body image for the soon-to-be 13-year-old girl whom she babysits, Chelsea.

The video begins with Jax and Chelsea sitting in the car, Jax begins to explain to her over 10 million followers that the day before, she picked up Chelsea from the mall where she had gone bikini shopping at Victoria’s Secret with her friends in preparation of her first boy and girl party.

In the song, Jax notes that she knows Victoria’s secret and adds that Victoria was made up by a dude, referring to Les Wexner, former CEO of Victoria’s Secret parent company

The singer songwriter noted that she suffered from an eating disorder when she was Chelsea’s age and ‘stopped eating’

The songwriter adds that when the young girl got into the car she was ‘hysterically’ crying because a friend had told her the bathing suit she tried on made her look ‘too fat and too flat.’

Jax, who had struggled with eating since she was 12, told Chelsea she decided to write a song for her to make her feel better, while also shaming the popular lingerie store.

Jax said: ‘I wrote a song for you, because when I was your age I had a lot of eating problems and I wish somebody would’ve said this to me.’

The song with a message perfect for anyone no matter their age starts off with: ‘God, I wish somebody would have told me when I was younger… all bodies aren’t the same. Photoshop, itty bitty models on magazine covers told me I was overweight.’

Jax continues to sing her powerful song explaining that she stopped eating because everyone knows you ‘can’t have carbs and a hot girl summer.’

She then spills the big reveal when she sings: ‘I know Victoria’s Secret and girl you wouldn’t believe it… She’s an old man who lives in Ohio, making money off of girls like me.’

The ‘old man who lives in Ohio’ refers to Les Wexner, the billionaire founder of Victoria’s Secret’s former parent company, L Brands. Wexner stepped down from his position within the company in 2020 after buying the brand in 1982.

The original Victoria’s Secret was founded in 1977 by a businessman named Roy Raymond, who created the store after he felt uncomfortable going into a department store to buy his wife lingerie. He said he wanted men to feel comfortable buying lingerie, which adds to Jax’s line ‘she was made up by a dude.’

After Raymond sold the brand to Wexner, the focus shifted. Wexner recognized a huge opportunity to market his brand directly to women, and for decades, the lingerie store has represented a sense of desirability, where women hopelessly tried to fit themselves into sexy underwear and unattainable body standards for the approval of a man.

And Jax isn’t the only one speaking out about the store’s shadowy past. Hulu recently released a new docuseries, entitled Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons, which offers a glimpse into the connection between Jefferey Epstein and Wexner.

The series highlights Wexner’s close relationship with billionaire pedophile Epstein and shows the $7.5 billion lingerie brand’s speedy rise – and epic fall.

The documentary comes three years after Epstein died by suicide in jail, where he was awaiting his trial for charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors for sex, crimes that he is believed to have committed over a span of decades, including during the time when he was working with Wexner.

Jax shared that the lingerie store pushed for one body type, which was that of a supermodel, whose body was only attainable if she ‘stopped eating’

The store is known for promoting harmful body image messages and former VS model Bridget Malcolm ,29,(pictured above) revealed how she suffered from an eating disorder

Jax said the ‘perfect’ body in the lingerie brand’s eyes was ‘photoshop, itty bitty models’; she added that the store sold ‘skin + bones with big boobs’

On top of the bizarre relationship between Wexner and Epstein, Victoria’s Secret is also known for the part it plays in many women developing eating disorders.

In the 2000s, the ‘perfect’ body was depicted by the glamorous Victoria Secret’s Angels.

With impossibly long legs and flat stomachs, every woman around the world desired to achieve the unattainable look at any cost.

This resulted in a rise of eating disorders between those who dreamed of being VS Angels and those who already were.

Former Victoria Secret’s model Bridget Malcolm, 29, revealed how she’s changed the way she views herself and the world around her, after recovering from an eating disorder.

The former Victoria’s Secret model has said that she no longer cares so much about the way she looks after years of starving herself to get a pair of VS wings, she added: ‘After having an eating disorder for so long, I have learnt to get my sense of self from inside; from my desire to create positive, lasting change in the world around me.’

And while many young women have developed eating disorders because of the brand’s push to achieve the unattainable, Jax has helped many of her followers realize that their worth isn’t connected to their body image with her song.

Her video received over six million views and thousands of comments from both celebrities and followers, thanking her for bringing light to the issue

America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel commented: ‘I love this song.’

One user added: ‘My daughters (one of whom is 11 and has an eating disorder) have been BLASTING this all day. It’s our newest anthem. THANK YOU!!’

‘As someone who struggles with an eating disorder I appreciate this song so much,’ said a third user.

Musical band Us the Duo also commented: ‘This is so good.’
