Baked beans quesadilla by Michelin-trained chef splits opinion on social media

A mouthwatering baked beans quesadilla has proved to be a controversial recipe when it was shared by a chef.

Michelin-trained Poppy O'Toole showed herself cooking up the interesting snack, starting with a chili con carne.

The chilli – fried onion, minced beef, tomatoes, spices – is taken up a notch with a tin of Branston baked beans that Poppy pours into the pan.

She then cooks a tortilla in a pan and adds grated cheese, followed by the chilli and beans.

The tortilla is then folded over and fried until golden and cut in half to make a neat little triangle.

Poppy says the "best part" is eating the delightful meal and shows her excitement as she takes a big bite.

"The snack hack you have to try next… cheesy beef Branston Bean quesadilla," she gushed in the caption when she shared the recipe on her official @poppycooks TikTok account.

It was watched more than 40,000 times since it was uploaded on Wednesday (October 20) and people didn't know what to make of it.

One user joked: "As a Texan, I must tell you this is at least three levels of blasphemy."

"Looks excellent," said someone else.

There was also a lot of talk about the chosen brand of baked beans – a contentious issue among Brits.

"Heinz none compares you stand alone," said a third user.

A fourth person commented: "I don't care what anyone else says Branston beans will always be the best."

This comes after another chef shared her ultimate eggs benedict recipe with a special trick to fix hollandaise sauce that has split.

And a hack for reheating pizza without it going soggy has taken the internet by storm – it promises a crispy base and perfectly melted cheese.
