Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as a pair of running socks that make pounding the streets in the rain much fun.
But the Balega Hidden Comfort socks come pretty close.
If you’re a regular runner, you’ll be well used to the common pitfalls of bad running socks: thin material that starts wearing thin after a few long runs, a lack of padding that leaves you with blisters and stifling material that makes your feet clammy.
The Balega Hidden Comfort running socks manage to avoid these issues while being so comfortable that we’re considering throwing out all of our other socks and just replacing them with these.

The material on the base of the socks is incredibly soft while being reinforced in the toe and heel to ensure it doesn’t fall apart. That means they always feel amazing, whether you’re knocking out a quick 5k or something much longer.
They’re plenty warm enough if you’ve got bad circulation, but they’ve also got a vented upper that should help keep your sweaty feet from becoming too clammy.
And they’ve got the clever little extra of having a heel tab that’s designed to stop the socks slipping down inside your trainer, which is a big bonus for us.
The quality appears to be great as well. We’ve got plenty of running socks in our drawers at home that, when you turn them inside out, reveal thread everywhere from where the panels are joined together.

This strikes us as poor craftsmanship that you’d rather avoid when spending £10-plus on a single pair of socks. But there’s no such bother with the Balegas, which boast a (quite literally) seamless design.
The only time we’d opt for another pair of running socks would be on hot summer days, as the thick, woolly material would leave your feet feeling a bit marshy.
But apart from that, the Balega hidden comfort running socks are always the first ones we reach for when we’re heading out for a run, and they’ll definitely be our sock of choice on marathon day.
