Luxury fashion house Balenciaga invited guests to their latest fashion show by sending them personalised broken iPhones.
Rather than the traditional paper invites, the French label opted to send out personalised mobiles engraved with the date and time of its Fall/Winter 2022 show at Paris Fashion Week.
Described as a ‘genuine artifact from the year 2022’, the phone – and the damage caused to it – is real, but is not functioning and should be used ‘for display purposes only’.
The brand’s 360° show will take place this Sunday and be live streamed around the world from the Balenciaga website.

The invitation reads: ‘Please find personalized information on the back of this phone. This is a genuine artifact from the year 2022.
‘It is nonfunctional and to be used for display purposes only. This document certifies that this device is, to the best of our knowledge, not artificially manufactured but made from years of use and later, neglect.’
The fashion house, known for its quirky marketing tactics, received a mix reaction online with some users calling the invites ‘cool’, while others were baffled by the bizarre invitation.
‘Balenciaga, baby, you’re a few years too late… Tumblr iPhone-mania ended in 2015, I’m sorry’, wrote one user.

The celebrity-loved label has been worn by stars including Beyoncé, Adele, Meghan Markle, the Kardashians and Kanye West, is known for it’s strange marketing methods.
The brand has previously been mocked for bizarre posts on Instagram – including dogs posing in giant hoodies and modelling earrings on lemons, although those have all been deleted in favour of a single photo of the Ukranian flag.
