Bill Gates is the former CEO, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft. He founded the computer company in 1975 alongside his childhood best friend Paul Allen.
On Monday, the tech mogul announced his divorce from his wife Melinda Gates after 27 years of marriage.
Though Gates has since stepped down as chairman of Microsoft, he still has a jaw-droopingly high net worth.
According to Investopedia, Gates is worth an estimated $133 billion (approximately £95 billion) as of January 13, 2021.
He earned the bulk of his riches during his time heading up the world-renowned computer company.
However, while he is no longer at the helm, Gates still owns 1.34 percent of the company he co-founded.
Born in 1955, Gates is best known for his work with Microsoft, though he is also an investor, author and philanthropist.
His career began in 1975 when he co-founded the tech firm alongside childhood friend Paul Allen in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The company went on to be the largest computer software firm, with Gates acting as CEO until 2000 when he decided to step down.
