Blind Date has returned… here are all the celebs that launched their career following the popular dating show

YOU’LL be surprised at the number of celebrities that appeared on Blind Date before they were famous.

Following the exciting news that the classic TV show will be returning to our screens, here are some stars you never knew appeared on the programme…

Amanda Holden

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda’s first TV appearance is probably not what you’d expect.

The 19-year-old appeared on a VERY awkward episode of Cilla Black’s Blind Date in 1991.

Embarrassingly, Amanda wasn’t even selected by the bachelor on the dating show – but the experience did pave the way for her career on television.

Nikki Grahame

Outspoken reality star Nikki got the chance to pick from three men when she appeared on Blind Date in 2003.

Even though she made a match, the contestants’ relationship never flourished.

Luckily, her fortunes changed on Big Brother, where she went on to find love with BB winner Pete.

The pair recently left the audience cringing when they were reunited on Loose Women.

Jenni Falconer

Scottish broadcasting presenter Jenni made her television debut on Blind Date in 1994.

Even though she was matched with contestant Danny, she didn’t manage to find love.

Following the death of Cilla Black in 2015, she spoke about her time on the show.

The 40-year-old said that the TV legend was a “lovely lady” who “inspired (her) to get into television”.

Ed Byrne

The Scottish comedian is best known for his panel and stand-up shows – but he actually first appeared on Blind Date.

Sadly his humour didn’t seem to impress the lovely lady, as he wasn’t picked for a date.

CBBC telly regular Mark Speight looked suave when he was on the show… but he wasn’t picked out of the three men

SMart presenter Mark Speight looked completely different when he was on Blind Date in 1989.

The CBBC host, who tragically died in 2008, didn't end up going on a date.

Even though he was rejected, Mark still won over the hearts of the British public when he appeared on the popular art programme.

Ortis Deley

Kids TV stars seem to enjoy appearing on dating shows, as Ortis Deley is another who featured on the dating contest.

In 2015, he paid tribute to Cilla Black by thanking the national treasure for giving him his break into the industry.

He said: “Just heard the news of Cilla Black’s passing.

“I owe that lady a lot. Thanks for the memories/opportunity."
