The 2022 BRIT Awards are taking place tonight, with the awards dropping male and female categories for the first time. The first ceremony took place in 1977 but didn’t become an annual event till 1982.
With celeb feuds, wardrobe malfunctions and drunken speeches the BRITs never fails to disappoint.
We’ve rounded up the moments that go down in history, although we’re not sure whether for good or bad reasons.

Michael Jackson performed Earth Song at the 1996 Brits and had Jarvis Cocker stormed the stage. He was removed and arrested after the show, as he was accused of hurting three children on stage. He was later released without charge.
One of the most memorable moments in Brits history has to be when Fleetwood Mac’s Mick and Sam Fox presented the awards in 1989. With autocues going wrong and dodgy jokes it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
When Robbie picked up the award for Best Video in 2000 he took the opportunity to ask the audience: ”Would anybody like to see me fight Liam?” Robbie had an ongoing feud with Liam Gallagher but despite the drama the fight never happened.

Adele performed Rolling In The Deep at the 2012 Brit Awards, but that wasn’t the only highlight. When making her acceptance speech for Album of the Year, James Corden cut her off to which she gave the middle finger.
In 2013 One Direction were given the Global Success Award. Unfortunately, Harry Styles was in the loo when the award was given and so missed most of their acceptance speech.

Just as Ronnie Wood was about to announce the winner of Best Soundtrack Album in 2000, DJ Brandon Block stormed the stage after a friend told him he’d won. Understandably unimpressed, The Rolling Stones guitarist threw a drink on the invader.
Accepting the BRITs Album of 30 Years award for Oasis (who had split) in 2010, Liam Gallagher took the time to snub his brother Noel. After a foul-mouthed acceptance speech, Liam threw his mic into the audience and was called a k******d by host Peter Kay.
