Brits make 8-tier Christmas tree out of beer cans to save on buying real one

'Tis the season to be merry.

And it looks like this bunch of Brits have taken that quite literally.

Instead of forking out for a plastic Christmas tree or even a real bush, some housemates put a rather boozy spin on the traditional Christmas tradition.

By boozy spin we mean they constructed a 'tree' out of empty beer cans – 182 to be precise.

Taking to Reddit, one of the Brits snapped a picture of their alternative festive centrepiece that was 'traditionally' decorated with baubles and tinsel.

"We didn't want to pay for a real Christmas tree – so we made our own", the avid beer drinker shared.

"I believe there are 182 cans in our tree. We constructed it using large cardboard poster tubes; cut slots in the tubes and made cardboard circular platforms to slot in.

"Each layer of cans is glued together to the cardboard platform it sits on.

"It's pretty stable as all the cans are glued together; though I wouldn't want anyone to fall into it lol."

The eight-layered 'tree' consists of a wide range of beer favourites like Stella and Fosters along with cans of soft drinks.

Impressed with the unique display, many people took to the comments to praise the creativity whereas some felt it was 'depressing'.

One person chuckled: "Oh canmass tree, oh canmass tree, how lovely are your ring pulls."

Another user mocked: "Way more expensive than a traditional tree, look at you flashing your cash at the rest of us!"

While a third praised: "I appreciate you taking the time to put baubles on it."

Someone else jibed: "Well this is depressing."

Meanwhile, a fifth person defended: "It's utterly utterly beautiful."
