Scout Willis is grateful for the “outpouring of love” she and her family have received since disclosing her father Bruce Willis’ aphasia diagnosis.
“The exquisite outpouring of love that I am experiencing right now is just blowing me away,” Scout, 30, wrote on her Instagram Story Wednesday over a funny photo of the “Die Hard” star, 67, in a bandana.
“Thank you all for showing up with so much tenderness and stunning love for my daddio and my whole family!”
Bruce’s family announced in a statement posted to social media earlier Wednesday that the legendary actor would be “stepping away from” his decades-long career “that has meant so much to him.”
Aphasia is a medical condition that can affect a person’s ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written, according to the Mayo Clinic. It typically occurs after a stroke or a head injury.
After the heartbreaking announcement, sources exclusively told Page Six that the “Whole Nine Yards” star had been experiencing issues on movie sets.
“He was having cognitive problems; they all knew Bruce was having problems,” a source told us. “Everybody knew, the cast and crew. His family has stepped in; they moved in to take care of him.”
The source added that Bruce was using “earpieces, hearing things, for them to feed him the lines,” and “it was increasingly difficult to have him on screen.”
Our insider explained that the films were being made closer to where the “Pulp Fiction” star lived to make the productions easier. But, the source said, “it was becoming super obvious he was having trouble … he could not act anymore.”
The Golden Globe winner still has multiple projects in the can or in post-production, including “Vendetta,” “Fortress: Sniper’s Eye” and “White Elephant,” as well as “Fortress 3” in pre-production.
