Mom and daughter are both pretty in pink.
Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole, 67, showed she has the same taste in clothes as her daughter when she showed up to Royal Ascot today in a very familiar pink dress.
Royal fashion fans might remember Carole’s Me + Em frock from the Duchess of Cambridge’s visit last spring with a young cancer patient, Mila Sneddo, who requested that Kate wear a pink dress when she met her.
The silk shirt-dress style midi retailed for $540 at the time and features soft pleats and a sash waist, although the duchess, 40, swapped hers out for a more structured pink belt from Boden.
Accessorizing with pink Emmy London pumps ($410), tiny gold hoops with a rhodochrosite charm from Missoma London ($110) and a floral print face mask, the duchess spent time with then-five-year-old Mila and her family at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
For her day at the races today, Carole stuck with the brand’s included sash, wearing it tied loosely over her dress and adding an oversized black fascinator with netting and a matching black clutch.
This isn’t the first time Carole and Kate have had a twinning moment.
While we often see the Middleton matriarch in some stunning — and very duchess-like looks — they’ve been spotted in the exact same outfit on several occasions.
In her pre-duchess days, Kate wore a striking white fascinator topped with a blue flower to a friend’s 2009 wedding. The following year, Carole wore the same hat to Royal Ascot, pairing it with a sharp cobalt dress by Reiss.
The Ascot outfit got even more mileage when Kate borrowed the dress for her first-ever public speech as a member of the royal family in 2012, wearing the belted style to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices Treehouse facility.
Carole even shared her own wedding dress with daughter-in-law Alizee, who wore the gown for her 2021 wedding to James Middleton.
Today’s matching moment comes after the news that the Cambridge family will reportedly be moving to Windsor later this year — a closer drive to the Middleton family’s home in Berkshire.
As for this year’s Royal Ascot, fans are anxiously awaiting the duchess’ arrival (and another Carole sighting, too).
