With many weddings cancelled for the best part of a year now and a surge for more spontaneous weddings, renting a wedding dress has never been so popular.

Boris Johnson’s wife, Carrie Symonds, proved that wedding rental is the way forward as she stunned in a beautiful embroidered tulle gown by Greek fashion designer Christos Costarellos.

The gown is typically priced at £2,870 as part of an exclusive collection on Net-a-Porter but you’ll never guess how much she paid to rent it for her big day. Disclosure: you probably paid more for your round of drinks at the pub this weekend.

It’s tradition for brides to wear something borrowed on their big day and Carrie Symonds did just that as it was confirmed that she paid just £45 a day from My Wardrobe HQ for her beautiful wedding dress.

Garments can be rented between four and 14 days on My Wardrobe HQ and it’s not the first time she’s done this. The political activist is known for her consciousness of the environment and has rented several pieces for many high-profile appearances with her Prime Minister husband including a blue belted coat from Isabelle Fox for the Commonwealth Day service back in last March and a checked dress by Eponine London which she wore to visit the Queen in September 2019.
