Harry the cat may not have any ears, but he has a big heart and a lot of love to give.
The three-year-old is currently under the care of the RSPCA Canterbury and District and Kent North West Branches, where he was treated for a number of health issues.
Now, after four months of gruelling surgery and recovery, he’s looking for a family and a forever home to call his own.
Sadly, as is common in white cats, Harry had cancer on the skin of his ear tips. Fortunately, surgery has successfully removed it and he is now on the road to recovery.
He also had to have surgery for entropion, where the eyelids grow inwards. Although his poor eyes were sore and closed up, the procedure was successful and he’s healed up well.
Despite everything he’s been through – including having to wear a cone for days on end – rescue centre staff describe Harry as ‘nothing but tolerant and a true delight.’
The domestic shorthair crossbreed has been recuperating at a foster home, where he settled in immediately, but the time has come for him to move somewhere more permanent.
Tara Luxford, from the RSPCA Canterbury branch, said: ‘Harry has been through so much in the last four months but he’s now almost ready for a new home.
‘We want to find a luxurious home for him so he can learn about the finer things in life after months of treatment. We would love for him to have a home without other cats or dogs, however he could live with older children.’
Harry’s adoption page says he’d prefer have his owner round for a good part of the day as he loves company, and that he’ll probably spend most of his time indoors.
However, workers at the centre say he’s a ‘true joy’ as a pet and ‘deserves to be treated like an absolute king!’
The team believes Harry will settle into the purr-fect new home with ease, writing: ‘What a rescue this will be for whoever chooses to have him in their home and in their heart.’
Tara added: ‘Harry is spotlessly clean and uses his litter tray impeccably. He’s also very gentle, chilled and affectionate. He’s a lap cat and loves to sleep on the bed.
‘Harry is a little shy of new people but settles quickly. He loves his meal times, is easy to handle and easy to medicate although hopefully won’t need to do so once he’s all healed up! This will make such a lovely pet.’
