Dozens of celebrities have been are sharing their tributes to Queen Elizabeth II following the announcement of her death on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96.

Buckingham Palace confirmed leaving millions around the world reeling over the tragic loss. It has been said that she was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Soon after, emotional messages from Hollywood’s most well-known stars came pouring in – as they honored her many accomplishments and hard work over the last 70 years as a royal. 

Barbara Streisand, 80, with a career spanning over six decades, paid tribute on  Instagram together with a photograph of her meeting the Queen in March 1975.

‘Sad to hear about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant for us all. Respected around the world. May she rest in peace. Barbra,’ she wrote. 

Kim Kardashian posted a black and white photograph of Her Majesty and wrote simply: ‘Rest in peace.’

Legendary singer Diana Ross, 78, who performed at the sovereign’s Platinum Jubilee in June with a new song written for the occasion, Thank You, echoed similar sentiments following her passing.

‘Thank you to Her Majesty, The Queen. She devoted her life to her country and to the service of others. I am happy I was able to say thank you to Her Majesty at this year’s Platinum Jubilee. With love and condolences to all of her family, we all celebrate her life,’ Ross wrote.

English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa shared a classic black and white photo of the Queen while model Hailey Bieber shared her shock on social media.

‘Wow… RIP to her majesty The Queen’, she wrote on Instagram. 

Kim Kardashian posted a black and white photograph of Her Majesty and wrote simply: ‘Rest in peace.’

Whoopie reminisced about the first time she met the Monarch at the Royal Variety Performance in 2009.

‘As she approached me, all I could think of was, ‘WTH? I’m an American kid from the projects and I’m in the company of the Queen of England,” she remembered on Twitter. ‘I was in awe. Rest In Peace. God Save the King.’

Jennifer shared a stunning portrait of the Queen to Instagram, which she captioned, ‘What an elegant, incredible woman.’

William, best known for his role in Star Trek, said he was ‘very saddened’ over her death.

‘Very saddened to learn about the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth,’ he wrote on Twitter.

Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates’ ex-wife Melinda shared an emotional post, writing, ‘Spanning nearly three-quarters of a century – and a world transformed many times over – Her Majesty’s was a reign without equal.

‘I will cherish the kindnesses that Queen Elizabeth II extended to our family and the remarkable leadership, resilience, and example she showed us all.’

Bill, for his part, also shared his sentiments, writing, ‘I feel honored to have met HM Queen Elizabeth, and I am very sad to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to the Royal Family and the British people.’

Barack and Michelle said in a joint statement posted to their Twitter accounts that they were ‘joining so many others who are celebrating her life and mourning her passing.’ 

‘Michelle and I were lucky enough to come to know Her Majesty, and she meant a great deal to us,’ Barack wrote.

‘Back when we were beginning to navigate life as President and First Lady, she welcomed us to the world stage with open arms and extraordinary generosity.

Janet Jackson shared a throwback photo of herself meeting the Queen, which she captioned, May you Rest In Peace, Queen.’

Nicki Minja tweeted, ‘RIP, QUEEN,’ while Reese Witherspoon wrote something similar, ‘Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth II.’ 

The pair added that she reigned with ‘grace, elegance, and a tireless work ethic,’ while ‘defying the odds and expectations placed on women of her generation’

Paris Hilton called her the ‘original girl boss’ and ‘one of the most inspirational women,’ calling it ‘the end of an era’

‘Her reign was exemplary as she saw our nation through so many crises,’ she wrote. ‘Not just a monarch but also a matriarch to our country and the commonwealth. Heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. Our hearts are broken.’

The Real Housewives of Dubai’s Caroline Stanbury also spoke out, calling it a ‘terrible loss.’

The English rock band also posted a tribute, writing, ‘The Rolling Stones extend their deepest sympathy to the Royal family on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who was a constant presence in their lives as in countless others.’

American journalist Maria Shriver honored her ‘extraordinary life of public service,’ gushing, ‘The queen served her country, until the very end, with class, strength, dignity, and honor. 

‘She was married for 74 years, a mother to four, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.’
