The 2022 Oscars saw Jada Pinkett Smith at the centre of a physical altercation between her husband Will Smith and host Chris Rock.
Will, 53, got up on stage at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday 27 March and the comedian, 57, after he said that he 'can't wait for G.I. Jane 2' in reference to Jada's shaved head.
Jada, 50, first opened up about her battle with alopecia in 2018 during her Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk in which she described how she was 'shaking with fear' when her hair started to fall out.
She said: "I have been getting a lot of questions about why I have been wearing this turban. Well, I have been having issues with hair loss and I am going to tell you it was terrifying when it first started."
"I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair just in my hands and I was just like: 'Oh my God am I going bald?' It was literally one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear."
Jada decided to shave her head in July 2021 and shared footage to her 11.2million followers of her new look, captioned: "Love and smile. You deserve nothing less."
Ex On The Beach star ZaraLena Jackson also shared a photo of herself after shaving her head – and she looks incredible.
The 28 year old reality star confidently posed in a white and black corset and a pair of large black sunglasses as she sat on the floor of her plush bedroom in a photo posted on her Instagram page.
ZaraLena’s head has been shaved in the snap and in the caption she explains why.
She told her 203,000 Instagram followers: “Amber Rose Eat your f**king heart out” followed by a fist bump emoji.
ZaraLena then added: “Bald is Beautiful ..
“So on Friday I decided to brave the shave. My hair has fallen in the space of just 5 weeks and it was time to deal with it all leaving me for a while.
“Still an unknown cause but with the radical fall it’s looking like a viral hit to my immune system causing it to attack itself. Despite the past month being the hardest challenge I’ve faced I’ll be damned if I let it take over my life as well as my hair.”
Sharing a powerful message for some followers who may be going through the same struggle, she wrote: “For those also suffering with alopecia this ones for you. I’m there to hold your hand through every step of the way, regardless of the good or bad days.”
Alopecia is described on Health Line as: "A condition that causes hair to fall out in small patches, which can be unnoticeable. These patches may connect, however, and then become noticeable. The condition develops when the immune system attacks the hair follicles, resulting in hair loss."
And ZaraLena isn’t alone when it comes to stars who’ve spoken out about suffering from alopecia.
Made in Chelsea star Olivia ‘Liv’ Bentley kept a secret beneath her blonde tresses, which she recently opened up on.
The 25 year old has been suffering from the hair loss condition alopecia for nearly a decade, and turns to wigs to get the lengths her teenage self longed for.

Discussing the condition, Liv explained she was 16 and on holiday when she first noticed the hair loss.
“I’d just got out of the shower and I was brushing my hair and I saw a patch the size of a two pence coin was missing on the side of my head. I assumed I’d just brushed it too hard or something but it didn’t grow back.
“Hair loss at that age was such a bizarre thing. I was at boarding school and would ring my mum in tears, so eventually she took me to a doctor.
“It comes and goes. When I’m really stressed, my hair gets thinner. I’m fortunate that it hasn’t all fallen out. But I’m much less stressed if I notice a bald patch now. I’ve always had s**t hair though – my hair isn’t my thing. I wouldn’t care now if I was bald.”
Little Mix star Jesy Nelson also started losing her hair when she was a teenager, much like Liv.
Now, her glossy mane is a big talking point, but when she was younger it wasn’t quite the case.
“I was probably about 13 when my hair just started coming out,” Jesy explained to Fabulous magazine.
She continued: “Stress can cause alopecia and it wasn’t nice. I got picked on because I’ve always liked to dress differently. I’ve never really wanted to fit in with everyone else.”
Beauty and Health
Since joining Little Mix however, it seems Jesy has the amazing support system she needs.
“It’s definitely made me stronger and I’m lucky that I’ve got these three girls as well because we stick up for each other.”
Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis decided to get a hair transplant after her rollercoaster journey with hair loss.
Speaking to OK! Magazine , she said: “My hair went really thin and I went in total shock which was really upsetting.
“Everyone always said one of my best features was my long dark hair that was all natural and here it was falling out.”
“If I touched it, it would just come out in my hands and I was told it was all the pressure I was under. I had a cry about it quite often because I didn't feel like myself. It makes you feel womanly in a sense.”
