Cheapest supermarket to buy Easter eggs this week including Cadbury | The Sun

EASTER is fast approaching and shoppers will be keen to bag a bargain on their eggs.

Luckily, one supermarket is selling the sweet treats at a discount this week so you can stock up in good time.

Sainsbury's has slashed prices on a number of its large Cadbury eggs online, including its Mini Egg and Flake versions, from £6 to £3.50 – a 42% saving.

We've approached the supermarket to find out if the eggs are reduced in-store too and how long the offer will run for and will update this story when we've heard back.

But based on online prices, no other supermarket is selling the same size eggs as cheaply.

You will have to factor in delivery costs if you're buying the eggs online though.

Orders under £40 are charged a £7 standard delivery fee, while orders over £40 are charged between £1 and £5.50.

You can buy a "delivery pass" though.

You essentially buy a monthly, six-monthly or yearly pass and pay no up front fees for deliveries.

Prices for the passes start from £4 and range up to £80.

The full list of Cadbury eggs reduced to £3.50 from £6 includes:

  • Cadbury Creme Easter Egg 235g
  • Cadbury Dairy Milk & Caramel Bars 245g
  • Cadbury Dairy Milk Flake Easter Egg 249g
  • Cadbury Mini Eggs Easter Carton 232g
  • Cadbury Twirl Easter Egg 241g

Sainsbury's is also offering two Thorntons Easter eggs at 20% off.

It is selling two different sizes of its milk chocolate flavour, but you'll have to pay a little more for them than the Cadbury eggs.

The 150g Classic Milk Chocolate Egg with a selection of chocolates 150g costs £4, down from £5.

Meanwhile, the Continental Milk Chocolate Egg 257g costs £8, down from £10.

It's worth noting Sainsbury's has only dropped prices on its larger Cadbury eggs and it's smaller sizes are still full price.

Remember, it's always worth comparing prices when buying a supermarket product.

Just because one retailer has slashed its prices that doesn't mean you are getting the best deal.

You can type the name of the product into Google and click on the "shopping" tab and it will draw up all the retailers selling it.

You can then compare prices to see who is stocking it the cheapest.

Or, you can use websites like trolley.co.uk that let you compare thousands of products across a number of high street supermarkets.

We looked online and couldn't find anywhere selling the same five large Easter eggs cheaper than Sainsbury's though.

The next cheapest option for the Cadbury Creme Easter Egg 235g is Morrisons, where it's on sale for £3.99.

Meanwhile, the next cheapest option for the Cadbury Dairy Milk & Caramel Bars 245g was Morrisons again, where it was £3.99.

The Cadbury Twirl Easter Egg 241g and Cadbury Mini Eggs Easter Carton 232g are both £3.99 at Morrisons too.

But Morrisons isn't selling the Cadbury Dairy Milk Flake Easter Egg 249g flavour.
