Company is giving couples a chance to win their dream £25k wedding for free

With the cost of living crisis gripping us in the UK, many people may be putting their weddings on hold until they can afford it.

However, one company is giving couples the chance to have their dream wedding for free.

Wedding planning website Hitched.co.uk wants to ensure the ongoing crisis doesn't affect the cost of loving in the UK, and so is giving couples the chance to win their dream wedding, up to the value of £25,000.

To enter, all couples have to do is sign up to the wedding planning platform before the end of February.

The competition comes as data reveals that the average cost of a wedding in the UK has risen 90% since 2020, and inflation will only see it rise even more.

The average cost of a wedding in the UK is now £17,300, according to the research, which is a whopping 90% higher than 2020.

The biggest spend is reportedly going towards the venue (£7,600) and catering (£4,680)

Almost half of couples (48%) of couples also go over their planned wedding budget, while two thirds of wedding costs were covered by friends and family or from savings (65%).

A huge 90% of couples say they are saving for additional financial goals alongside planning weddings, with more than half citing honeymoons as their main goal, and 41% saving to buy a house

Zoe Burke, leading wedding expert and editor at Hitched says: "The rising cost of living is stressful for everyone, especially after the last few years we’ve had collectively.

"We don’t want the rising costs to mean that people miss out on having their dream wedding, which is why we have decided to give away this amazing prize.

"At Hitched we believe that every couple should have access to the very best wedding suppliers, to make sure their big day is as special and unique as they are.

"So, we’re going to give one lucky couple the chance to have the wedding of their dreams this year, by giving them £25,000 to spend with the almost-19,000 suppliers we work with!

"It’s a really exciting competition, and we can’t wait to see how it all turns out!"
