Coronation Street star Sam Robertson’s life and relationships away from iconic Adam Barlow character

He's currently at the centre of one of the biggest storylines on the cobbles, with actor Sam Robertson playing the role of charming solicitor Adam Barlow.

Putting on an impressive performance on Monday night's Coronation Street, 31 July, Sam Robertson's character Adam has just exposed wife Sarah Barlow's latest lie.

In an explosive episode Adam discovered the truth, that Damon Hay is the biological father of Sarah's unborn baby.

The soap bad boy left many in shock after dramatically confronting Sarah at her gender reveal, with a balloon box that revealed the message: "It's Damon's".

And with all eyes firmly on hunky Sam Robertson, we take a look at his life and relationships away from the show.

Sam Robertson has starred on Coronation Street as Adam Barlow since 2004.

His character left the show in 2007, with Adam opting for a fresh start in Portsmouth to run Peter's betting shop.

But fans were delighted when he returned six years later, now working in law.

On the show, Adam has a thick Scottish accent due to the character being raised in a boarding school in Scotland.

And in real life, the 37-year-old actually does have a real Scottish accent himself, albeit a much softer one. This is because of the fact he was born and raised in Dundee.

The star lived in Scotland until he turned 18, and is a keen supporter of Dundee Football Club.

Sam moved to Manchester after college to study Drama and English at university, but dropped out at 18 to focus on his first stint playing Adam. This turned out to be a great decision.

Since then Sam has also starred on Celebrity Big Brother, as well as having roles in Beaver Falls, The Match, Push, Bedlam and River City.

In terms of his love life, despite opting to keep his personal life private, Sam has been romantically linked to several famous faces over the years.

In 2018, it was reported that he enjoyed a brief romance with former Dancing on Ice contestant and Corrie co-star Faye Brookes, who played Kate Connor on the soap.

Last year it was also rumoured that the Scottish star was dating England footballer and BBC presenter and TV personality, Alex Scott.

Alex later confirmed that they had been on a date together after the pair were spotted enjoying an evening out at a restaurant.

A source told the Sun said: “They both looked totally relaxed about being out together, even though they’re both very famous now.

“Strictly made Alex a household name so she’s instantly recognisable, and Sam is a big name on Corrie so they probably knew they’d be spotted out together but didn’t seem to mind at all.

“They laughed and flirted with each other and had a great time before heading off looking very cosy. They’re clearly both happy.”
