The retailer will be hoping The Ombles follow in the footsteps of previously hugely successful character Percy Pig.
The pig-shaped raspberry, strawberry, cherry, and grape-flavoured sweets were first launched in 1992, and the character is now used for a variety of different tasty treats.
The brand has also launched a range of other Percy Pig based products, including t-shirts and duvet covers.

Meanwhile Colin the Caterpillar could also prove inspiration for The Ombles, with the retailer selling more than 15 million of the chocolate roll since it was launched in 1990.
M&S announced yesterday that they would be selling packets of Colin’s white chocolate face for just £1 in stores across the country from Wednesday.
Colin’s Mini Faces quickly became one of the bestselling confectionery lines at M&S Food after the retailer launched them to celebrate their 30th anniversary last August.
Identical to the cake, Colin’s face is made of solid, creamy white chocolate with milk chocolate eyes.

Another said: ‘The rule I introduced was – if it’s your birthday, you get the face. It was entirely necessary so this is welcome news.’
