A nightclub proposal has divided opinion after a video of the big moment emerged on social media.
A clip posted to Instagram shows the moment two lovebirds became betrothed to one another at Mosh nightclub in Leicester, which was previously dubbed the ‘best worst night out in the UK’.
The tradition-defying moment began with a woman squatting low in the middle of the dancefloor of the student hotspot, before her fiancé sweetly took her by the hand and kneeled down to join her.
As the crowd watched the romantic spectacle, the DJ continued to blast music. And while on bended knee, the man handed his girlfriend a ring just before the pair shared a passionate kiss.
Although a memorable moment for the couple, many took to the post to troll them, with one person so shocked, they hoped it was ‘fake’, while another said ‘God forbid’.

An anonymous couple has divided opinion after a video of their mosh pit-style proposal emerged on social media
In a clip posted to Instagram, the bizarre scene at Indie rock nightclub Mosh in Leicester, shows the moment the anonymous lovebirds were betrothed to one another
In what appeared to be the basement or ground floor of the club, a large crowd jumped around in unison to the music in honour of the couple’s big moment.
Clubgoers were also seen throwing their arms in the air, while others recorded the moment on their mobile phones.
The lovers joined hands and stood up to join the rest of the ravers as they continued onto the night.
The woman was later photographed with a huge smile on her face, no doubt over the moon at becoming newly engaged.
Unfortunately not everyone shared in her joy. Commenting under a photo of the couple, one person wrote: ‘Tell me this is fake’
‘Bet he’s still stuck to that floor’ said another.
Meanwhile one follower said they ‘would rather sh** in my hands and clap than do that’.
Alongside a shocked emoji, a third added: ‘God forbid’.
‘Tragic’ said one more.

‘And they say romance is dead,’ added another cynic.
And while the proposal may be perceived as peculiar by some, it’s perhaps not as strange as the time a Nigerian man pretended he had been killed in a car crash – only to ‘come back to life’ to ask his distraught girlfriend to marry him.
In the video, a man can be seen lying on the ground in the street in Nigeria while a friend tells his devastated girlfriend that he has been hit by a car.
There is a small pool of blood on the ground coming from his head which appears to confirm the story of the car accident.
Moments later, the distressed girlfriend rushes over, shoving people out of the way in order to get to his side before breaking down in tears as she tries to shake him awake.
But after a short period of lying lifelessly on the ground, the man suddenly leaps to his feet, leaving her shocked at his sudden resurrection.
He then takes a ring from a friend and drops down on one knee to ask her to marry him.
For a moment it looks as if she is going to say no as she steps backwards and turns away, covering her eyes with her hand to wipe away the tears.
But then she turns and steps forward into his arms.
