Curvy woman shamed for having muscly husband defends decision to not have kids

A plus-size woman is sick of having to justify herself to trolls.

After battling keyboard warriors who claim she's too curvy for her athletic husband, Alicia McCarvell has now defended the fact she doesn't want children.

The body positive influencer, from Canada, often shares content to her over 780,000 followers on Instagram to help make women feel good about themselves.

Back in June she received abuse from trolls after sharing a cute clip to TikTok, which showed her having a cuddle with her partner, Scott.

The pair have been married for 15 years but, despite this, the post led to the content creator receiving a new host of comments from social media users who claimed the relationship doesn't seem to "add up".

The video was viewed more than 24million times, with some people alleging he only wed Alicia for her money.

Some even claimed the influencer couldn't have been "fat" when he fell in love with her, but it wasn't the first time the couple endured abuse.

Back in 2021, Alicia said people dubbed her a "sugar mama" for bagging the bodybuilder husband – and Alicia hit back against the backlash.

Now she's opened up about the fact that the couple don't wish to have children and says they "don't need a reason why".

She said the couple love children, but are happier being the "cool aunt and uncle".

In a video posted on Instagram – she said they aren't selfish – it's simply a choice they've made as a couple.

Writing on Instagram, Alicia said: "For everyone who is new to this space, here are some facts about us and having kids:

"We're not having any. We don't have/need a reason. We know the meaning of love.

"We both love kids. We both don't want them. We both have siblings.

"We thought we had to but realised we didn't. We will take care of ourselves when we're old.

"We will not change our minds. We're not afraid of being parents.

"I'm not afraid of carrying a baby, just don't want to. We are happy being the cool aunt and uncle."

Since opening up about not wanting kids, Alicia has received a lot of support from her followers.

The video she posted of herself talking about the matter has been liked over 40,000 times and nearly 2,000 people have commented.

One person said: "Yes. Same for me and my husband.

"'But you'd be such great parents'. Yes, I know we would, but we don't want to be parents."

A second added: "I love this. I don't understand why people feel the need to judge or want to know why you don't want kids. None of your business."

And a third commented: "Yes. Having a child isn't a requirement to validate a relationship, people.

"The fact people still see it as one, or that it's their business to ask, are just not my kind of people. You do you."
