DAN WOOTTON: If we force people to get jabbed what's next?

DAN WOOTTON: So if we force people to get jabbed what’s next, compulsory gastric bands for fatties?

‘Given the situation, I think it is appropriate to adopt compulsory vaccination.’

One of the final acts of the outgoing German chancellor Angela Merkel last night was to urge for the creation of a new law as an ‘act of national solidarity’ that will, in fact, turn her country into an official two-tier society for the first time since the worst dictator in history was in charge.

Does she have good intentions? Maybe, but that’s not good enough and the lack of outrage across the media and politics at her stance is chilling.

The dark march towards mandating the Covid vaccine across Europe is the biggest threat to human rights in a generation.

I say this as someone who is triple vaccinated, having weighed up my personal risk and made an educated decision based on my own health profile.

But that is a decision we MUST all be able to take ourselves.

Are we really going to have to be jabbed every three to six months forever more? Even if we’re swimming in Covid antibodies naturally already? Where is the science to say that is safe?

One of the fundamental principles in any democracy is the right to control which medical procedures we undergo and what we put in our bodies.

If we pursue this path, governments’ taste for control over our health will inevitably grow stronger.

Should they also have the right to enforce stomach-stapling for the morbidly obese or mandate abortions for mums carrying babies with Down syndrome? Of course not.

But just a year ago, it would have been a fantasy to suggest so-called liberal democracies were going to forcibly inject perfectly healthy citizens with a vaccine which does carry a risk – admittedly a minuscule one – of significant side effects.

That Germany hasn’t learned from its history has shaken me to my core this week and makes me deeply fearful about what’s to come.

The extreme Covid orthodoxy is now far more terrifying than the virus itself.

From yesterday, the unvaccinated are effectively locked out of German society – barred from non-essential retail, leisure activities, cultural institutions, restaurants, bars and Christmas markets, and unable to legally socialise outside of their own home, even if they can prove they have recently recovered from Covid or have antibodies.

Now European Union chief Ursula Von der Leyen wants to take the entire bloc down the dystopian path started in Austria.

Perhaps what’s most frustrating is that all these knee-jerk decisions that fundamentally change the relationship between the state and its citizens are missing the point anyway: They will only end up entrenching the feelings of those opposed to being vaccinated.

There are questions that we have the right to ask about the vaccine programme, including in the UK, where the Conservative chairman Oliver Dowden (above) ominously refused to rule out his party ever pursuing a mandation policy during an interview on talkRADIO this morning

Remember back to January when we were promised it was a case of 15 million jabs to freedom; once the vulnerable all had the chance to be protected, life could return to normal and our civil liberties would be restored forever more, never to be snatched away so cruelly again.

Less than a year later and the government has now ordered a further 115 million doses from the MRNA vaccine companies Pfizer and Moderna for booster jabs next year and in 2023.

In fact, in total, the UK has now secured 453.5 million Covid vaccine doses, enough to vaccinate the entire population six times over.

The Pfizer chief executive Dr Albert Bourla yesterday told the BBC we can expect to be jabbed annually for years to come – but he would say that wouldn’t he, given the company’s share price soars the more hysterical the media and governments become.

Almost overnight, following the emergence of the Omicron variant, the UK government seemed to engage in pseudo-science itself by halving the length of time you have to wait between your second and third jabs from six to three months.

Again, maybe that’s a great thing, but surely it’s now time for the government to have a frank conversation about the reality of this vaccine programme.

Are we really going to have to be jabbed every three to six months forever more? Even if we’re swimming in Covid antibodies naturally already? Where is the science to say that is safe?

I had former Tory minister Ann Widdecombe on my GB News show this week who told me, at 74, she is ‘personally resisting’ a booster.

She explained: ‘I had the two jabs, that was fine. I think we were way ahead of most of the rest of the world and we have a lot to be proud of in our vaccine programme. But I’ve said when it comes to the third jab, I want to know what my antibodies are before I have yet another jab.’

To me, that’s a sensible personal decision based on science, but one that won’t please the jab-hungry government and will probably soon see someone banned from travelling or perhaps more if the dreaded vaccine passports are introduced to England.

To dismiss these types of concerns as anti-vaxx sentiment is as infuriating as it is unhelpful and intellectually dishonest.

Yesterday, the government issued new official guidance for healthcare professionals into the heart conditions myocarditis and pericarditis after Covid-19 vaccination.

They admitted: ‘Most patients who develop symptoms have usually been vaccinated with a mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna)… the long-term consequences of this condition secondary to vaccination are yet unknown, so any screening recommendations need to be balanced against the frequency and severity of the disease with the aim to prevent complications, in particular of myocarditis (arrhythmias, long term myocardial damage or heart failure).’

Thankfully, such problems are extremely rare.

But it came on the same day that scientists in Cardiff and the US revealed findings that show they have found ‘the trigger’ that leads to equally extremely rare blood clots after the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine.

Like those suffered by BBC radio presenter Lisa Shaw who died due to complications that caused blood clots in the brain, according to the coroner, following her jab.

Now, I stress, similar blood clots are more likely to occur from getting Covid-19. The vaccines are a largely wonderful thing that have saved millions of lives and none of these findings have personally put me off the booster.

There’s good news emerging, too. A new study in the Lancet today reveals the booster jabs increase ‘antibody levels thirtyfold’ and ‘roughly tripled levels of T-cells’, which could provide significant help fighting the mutated Omicron variant.

But political and moral leaders the world over must be shouting about the evidence, not using fear and coercion to try and forcibly jab people in a free society.

I deplore the language of comedian Jimmy Carr, who in his new Netflix special ‘jokes’: ‘Who’s not going to take the vaccine because they think it might be dangerous? Raise your hand…Now take that hand and slap yourself in the f***ing face. The spread of Covid was linked to how dense the population was, and some of the population are really quite f***ing dense.’

Folk like Carr who think they are morally superior should seriously think about whether their constant vicious attacks on the unvaccinated do anything other than drive the hesitant further underground.

I fear the dangerous march towards compulsory Covid vaccination is going to lead to permanent divisions in society with social consequences, like mistrust in government and health services, lasting for a generation, long after Covid-19 has become endemic.

Do not go down this path, I promise you it’s not going to end well.
