They’re cool for the summer.
From teal waves to super-short pixie cuts, Demi Lovato is no stranger to bold hair choices – but their new ‘do is a completely new direction.
The 28-year-old singer first debuted the tapered mullet at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on May 27, paired with a striking purple Dundas suit and smokey eye makeup.
It seems Lovato is doubling down on the edgy look, adding wavy black extensions to the back and sides of the style for an even more dramatic look.
Lovato sported the hairstyle yesterday on the set of a music video for an unreleased song with rapper G-Eazy. The singer also donned an open yellow shirt with rolled-up sleeves that showed off their many meaningful tattoos, paired with black slacks.
The “most ridiculed haircut ever” improbably took Hollywood by storm as the “it” style of 2020.
Within the past year, superstars such as Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Doja Cat have all shown their twist on the eighties-inspired hairstyle. Rihanna embraced the almost-pixie cut for the first time in 2013 and revived the style briefly in late 2020.
It seems like no surprise that Lovato would be the next pop superstar to try their hand at the mullet; Their hairstylist Amber Maynard Bolt told Page Six Style last year that Lovato is “one of those rare individuals who can pull off almost any look.”
