Back to school for designer darlings! High-end brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger unveil their VERY pricey uniform essentials – from a £1,084 Gucci coat to a £550 Burberry dress

There are only a few days left before children head back to school, and for the ultra wealthy, it’s the occasion to shop for show-stopping designer gear that will make their spawn the envy of the playground. 

Designers including Burberry, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren have released children’s clothes that will give a seriously stylish take on the school uniform.  

British online retailer Alex and Alexa, who specialises in luxury childrenswear, have put together a Back to School edit with adorable jackets, dresses and jumpers which comes with eye-watering price tags.

The collection, which is filled to the brim with designer labels, including a Burberry dress priced at £550 with matching trainers costing £240. 

Meanwhile, the money-is-no-object edit also includes coats and parkas from Gucci Kids, including a blue raincoat for boys priced at £1,084. 

Some parents might prefer to invest in law-cost kit when it comes to school clothes, or even pass clothes from one child to the next to cut on expenses. 

But the mega rich can splash on £160 jackets or a £40 branded pair leggings from Calvin Klein Jeans for their little one.

Gucci is selling a boys raincoat for £1,084, which is also part of Alex and Alex’s Back to School edit 

Sporty tots can also expect to hit their PE class decked out in colourful tracksuits bottoms from Ralph Lauren costing £79 a pair, adorned with neon dinosaurs.  

For girls, Alex and Alexa also recommend bohemian chic pieces like a floral dress from designer Louise Misha, which is going for £95.

Other parents with cash to burn might want to buy a pair of flared Bonpoint jeans for their daughters, which will set them back £125 for a pair. 

For a more modern look, expect to see wealthy little girls donning Moncler jackets costing £485 when it becomes chilly on the playground.

You might also see the most studious of these wealthy pupils storing their school books in monogrammed backpacks from Gucci, costing £773, or eating their lunch in £50 sets. 

Wile the super wealthy have the luxury of splashing on these luxury items for their brood, around the country, more and more parents are turning to low-cost gear as the cost of living crisis is hitting hard on families. 

Supermarkets have started to run school uniform items as part of their back to school lines, with sets of two going for as little as £10.49 in Aldi.

Two sets from Poundland’s PepCo clothing brand costs £12. Tesco has a deal of two full uniforms sets for £17.50, while George at Asda is £14.50 for two sets.

 It comes after alarming reports that British parents are skipping meals so they can afford to buy their children’s uniforms as inflation soars.
