Did Beyonc\u00e9 Meet Selena Quintanilla In Real Life Like She Did In ‘Selena: The Series’ Part 2?

  • In Selena: The Series part two, Selena meets a teenage fan named Beyoncé Knowles.
  • Yes, it’s that Beyoncé—and yes, it actually happened in real life, too.
  • Fans of the TV show are freaking out over the cute moment between music queens.

Selena: The Series part two premiered on Netflix on May 4, picking up where the first part of the scripted drama about Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla left off. The second installment of the limited series focuses on the Queen of Tejano Music’s increasing fame after the release of her second album as a solo artist, Ven Conmigo.

On the personal front, it also shows Selena’s relationship and elopement with husband Chris Perez. (ICYDK, the Quintanilla family helped develop and executive produce the series alongside creator, executive producer, and co-showrunner Moisés Zamora.)

Though part two is all about Selena’s rise to stardom, another burgeoning star makes an unexpected appearance in episode six. None other than Beyoncé Knowles, played by actress Giovanna Bush, meets Selena as a teen. (Yes, that Beyoncé—and yes, she’s a huge Selena fan.) In the scene, young Bey is told by her mother, Tina: “Beyoncé Knowles, you better learn not to be afraid of people if you ever wanna be famous, too.”

But wait, did Beyoncé actually meet Selena in real life?

Yep! Queen Bey really did meet the Queen of Tejano Music when she was younger at the Galleria mall in Houston. The 28-time Grammy Award winner even shared the experience during an interview with MTV’s tr3s.

“But I didn’t say much to Selena because I wasn’t a celebrity, and I just saw her and said ‘hello’ and kept it moving. Definitely, growing up in Texas, I heard her on the radio,” Beyoncé says in the clip shared to YouTube. “”I think she is a legend and I admire her. And she was so talented. So I’m very happy that [I met her], even though she didn’t know who I was. I’m still excited that I got that opportunity.”

Of course, the Internet has gone crazy over the cameo, as the internet does. (And tbh, rightly so!)
