Raw dog food company ProDog Raw is looking for 10 people to take part in the day-long study. It is investigating whether looking at pictures of puppies can alleviate stress levels. Each candidate will be paid £20 an hour to wear a heart rate monitor and look at pictures of dogs as they go about their day, except taking hourly breaks to look at a series of pre-prepared dog images.

The heart rate data will be collected and analysed by a doctor to identify any key findings.

Participants are required to have no underlying health conditions which may affect their heart rate including high blood pressure or arrhythmia.

Applicants should ideally have a desk-based job where they won’t be doing manual work or activities that may increase their heart rate.

People interested in taking part must be between 18 and 60-years-old, use social media, and have access to a device where they can use the internet.

Join our brand new website TeamDogs now.

When you get there, make sharing a picture of your dog in our Top Dogs feed your very brilliant first job.

Maybe when you’ve done that, leave a recommendation to help fellow dog owners in the TeamDogs community.

ProDog Raw report that 73 percent of Brits said they preferred looking at photos of dogs and cats on social media rather than a photo of a person. Based on the survey of 1,402 people, 64 percent also said they would be more likely to engage with an animal post than a human one.

Heidi Maskelyne, founder of ProDog Raw said: “We as a nation love to share pictures and videos of our four-legged friends, and it turns out we love to see and interact with them too.

“It is scientifically proven that our pets can relieve stress, but there’s not much research on whether simply looking at a picture of a dog can help calm a person’s mood.
