Elon Musk’s mom Maye, 73, poses in a one-shoulder swimsuit for diverse new swimwear campaign alongside Erin and Sara Foster, married soccer stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris, a double amputee, and a Paralympic gymnast

  • Model Maye features in a new campaign for inclusive swimwear brand Summersalt alongside 23 other stars of all shapes and sizes

Elon Musk’s mother Maye has joined a diverse cast of models who are proudly showing off their swimsuit bodies in Summersalt’s inclusive new campaign.

The popular swimwear brand enlisted 24 inspiring women to strike a pose in its line of swimsuits, including double-amputee Lauren Wasser, plus-size yogi Jessamyn Stanley, and Special Olympics gymnastics champion Chelsea Werner. 

Titled ‘Every Body is a Summersalt Body,’ the summer 2021 campaign aims to promote self-love and body positivity, with the brand saying in a statement: ‘The women in the campaign represent a diverse group of activists, entrepreneurs, and change-makers, who are trailblazing within their communities.’

Pretty in pink: Former E! News host Catt Sadler, 46, struck several different poses in a fuchsia bikini from the brand, which aims to ’empower all women to feel confident, exactly as they are’

Summersalt added that it hopes to ’empower all women to feel confident, exactly as they are,’ and a spokesperson explained that the brand wanted to feature such a diverse cast of models to help ‘promote body positivity and self-confidence’ for people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. 

The models range in age from 23 to 73, with Maye being the oldest. The model, author, and practicing dietician looks regal in her black one-shoulder one-piece as she poses with her hand on her hips, her silver hair combed back. 

‘I’m so happy to have confidence at 73,’ Maye said in the playful campaign video. 

Maye is no stranger to breaking boundaries in the fashion industry after having found her greatest success as a model in her 60s and 70s. The mother of three made history in 2018 when she became the face of CoverGirl at the age of 69, and her modeling career continues to thrive.  

Brand investor Sara Foster, 40, posed alongside her sister Erin Foster, 38, for the campaign wearing complementary swimsuits.

Both sisters are performers and entrepreneurs and are best known for their VH1 parody Barely Famous. They most recently launched their podcast The World’s First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster.

But Sara not only featured in the campaign as a model, she actually designed some of the swimwear that is showcased in the images. 

In one photo, the sisters are both sporting wet beach hair and wearing electric blue swimsuits: a bikini for Sara and a high-leg one-piece for Erin, both of which were designed by the older Foster sibling as part of her Summersalt x Sara Foster Electric Blue capsule collection.  


Stunning: Plus-size fashion model Denise Bidot showed off her curves in a flirty two-piece and a pink and red one-piece 

Trailblazer: Plus-size yogi Jessamyn is an advocate for body positivity and size inclusivity in the fitness industry. She was all smiles while modeling a playful white two-piece 


Going for gold! Paralympic gymnast Chelsea Werner proudly put her medals on display in one of her campaign images, which showed her posing in a one-shoulder swimsuit

Confident: Chelsea flashed a smile for the camera while donning and black and white polka-dot one-piece with ruffled straps 

Confident: Model Andrea Thomas has vitiligo, a skin condition that causes patches of skin to lose pigment 



Stars: Travel blogger Jessica Nabongo, Seagram’s heiress and entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, and chronic illness advocate Nitika Chopra (left to right) are also featured

Another snap shows Sara posing in a black one-piece while Erin models a leopard rash guard and matching bottoms. 

The Foster sisters weren’t the only duo who were photographed together. 

Professional soccer players and spouses Ali Krieger, 36, and Ashlyn Harris, 35, posed together and apart for the inclusive campaign. 

The National Women’s Soccer League athletes, who both play for the Orlando Pride, are pictured doing power poses wearing one-shoulder one-piece swimsuits in one image. 

In other snapshots, they are holding hands while modeling black and white one-pieces.

Accomplished: Stylist Stacey London is the CEO of State of Menopause, a wellness brand that provides resources for menopausal women


Posing pros: Actress and YouTuber Anna Akana modeled a navy speckled one-piece, while athlete Meg Boggs did a graceful leave in her one-shoulder swimsuit 

Claim to fame: Deepika Chopra, who is known as the Optimism Doctor, is the  founder of the wellness brand Things Are Looking Up


Fashion stars: Micaela Erlanger (left) is a best-selling author and renowned celebrity fashion stylist,  while Carly Cushnie (right) is fashion designer and founder of Cushnie

Former E! News host Catt Sadler, 46, struck several different poses in a fuchsia bikini from the brand. She made headlines in 2017 after advocating for equal pay to her male co-star. 

‘Every body is a Summersalt body,’ she said at the start of the campaign video, while actress and YouTuber Anna Akana boasted: ‘I get a lot of my confidence from being the funniest person that I know — not the most humble.’ 

‘I’m my most confident when I’m my authentic self,’ shared travel blogger and influencer Jessica Nabongo.

A number of the models had appeared in previous campaigns, including Paralympic gymnast Chelsea Werner, who has Down syndrome, and model Andrea Thomas, who has vitiligo, a skin condition that causes patches of skin to lose pigment.

‘My body has designer skin,’ Andrea said in the body-positive clip.   

Optimism Doctor Deepika Chopra, Seagram’s heiress and entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, and stylist Stacey London are also among the stars of the campaign.
