Emmerdale Moira actress Natalie J Robbs life away from soap from popstar past to co-star split

It's been a dramatic few years for Emmerdale favourite Moira Barton, and now she's been forced to sell her beloved farm.

Embroiled in a despairing storyline as Moira's scheming brother-in-law Caleb Milligan encouraged her to sell the farm to villain Kim Tate in an attempt to keep the businesswoman on his side and bleed her dry.

We saw how shattered Moria was by the prospect of selling but was alternatively left with no choice after Caleb sabotaged her business.

As we watch the storyline unfold, we can't help but watch in despair as one of our favourite characters is betrayed by her own family.

Yet despite the non-stop emotional rollercoaster of her life on screen, the actress that continues to bring Moira to life, Natalie J Robb, has a far quieter life away from the Dales.

Here’s everything you need to know about the soap star…

Who is actress Natalie J Robb?

Natalie J Robb is 48 years old and was born on December 3, 1974.

Growing up just outside Glasgow, Natalie discovered her love of acting at an early age and first cut her teeth in a number of roles that included Taggart and London's Burning.

She was also well known for being a series regular in the Scottish Television soap opera Take the High Road and in the BBC soap opera Doctors.

However, her most iconic role to date is as Moira Dingle in Emmerdale, a role she has held since 2009.

Outside of her acting work, Natalie is a keen fitness enthusiast and frequently shares images of her training sessions via her Instagram channel @nataliejrobbofficial, whenever she's hitting the gym or out for a run.

Who is Natalie J Robb dating?

Natalie is typically quite secretive about dating and her relationship status and previously said that when her character got married, it wasn't something she was interested in.

She said: "For Moira and Cain it's the whole traditional thing but that isn't for me. It wouldn't be a big, white wedding – I'd want to do something simple but beautiful. Not that I'm in any rush to get married. In real life it's never really been a big thing for me."

Natalie had been dating her Emmerdale co-star Liam Cavanagh actor Jonny McPherson, 40, before the couple went their separate ways after a year of dating.

The pair are thought to have known each other for years, but grew closer on a charity trip in 2019, according toThe Sun.

Then, when the country was sent into its first lockdown in March 2020, the former flames made the decision to move in together.

Discussing her relationship on Loose Women while she was with Jonny, Natalie revealed: "Our first date was in mid-January, and then we were just having a couple of dates in February and then obviously March lockdown happened.

"And we were together at the time that Boris Johnson announced it. 'So we're like, 'Oh'. So he's been kind of staying with me, and then they were saying, yes, it could be three weeks. Yes, it might be six weeks. I was like, 'Oh, okay!'"

In the wake of their separation, Jonny moved out of Natalie’s home and back onto his houseboat.

While dating, Jonny admitted that the pandemic had “fast forwarded (their) relationship”.

"We had to make a decision as lots of couples did. We decided to move in together and so, yes, lockdown did fast forward our relationship," he told The Mirror in 2020.

"We get on so well. We come from quite different backgrounds but we are essentially the same person. We are both a pair of big kids. We have exactly the same stupid humour.”

Natalie has reportedly remained single since their split.

What else has Natalie J Robb appeared in?

Natalie made her screen debut as a nine-year-old, starring in an STV docudrama alongside Tom Conti.

Aged 15, she starred in Scottish soap Take The High Road. And she also had parts in Coronation Stree and The Bill, as well as Doctors.

In 2006, she appeared in rival soap EastEnders as Max Branning's mistress, Gemma Clewes.

Outside of acting, Natalie was also once in a band called The Kinky People and also sang I Will Be There by a group called Absolutely.

In resurfaced photos, Natalie looks particularly youthful wearing a black sheer off-the-shoulder top, black trousers and a black bra.

To complete the look, the now-soap actress had her hair in curls and wore smoky eye make-up.
