Emmerdale’s Jurell Carter’s life from footballer past to racy photo away from Nate Robinson role

Jurell Carter has become a staple to our screens after joining the cast of Emmerdale back in 2019, with the actor taking on the role of Nate Robinson.

Nate arrived in the Dales in April 2019 as a mystery man, but his real identity was soon uncovered as it was revealed that he is the lovechild of Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

He's found himself at the centre of many dramatic storylines, and was most recently seen sharing a steamy kiss with ex-girlfriend Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh).

So, what do we know about actor Jurell away from Emmerdale? Let's take a look at his life away from the cameras…

Jurell, 29, who hails from Leicester, didn't always have acting in his sights as he originally hoped to become a professional footballer.

When he was 18 years old he offered a partial scholarship to play football over in America, but as his family were unable to pay the rest of the costs he sadly missed out on the opportunity.

He previously told the Mirror: "It was heartbreaking. I had loved football from the age of three. When I got offered the scholarship to the University of South Carolina Aiken it was amazing but I couldn’t find the funds to pay for the rest of it so I couldn’t go.

“I was so devastated. It was something I loved so passionately, for it then not to go through… it was heartbreaking."

In 2019, his big break came after studying at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and he announced he was joining Emmerdale as Nate.

Announcing the happy news, Jurell wrote on Instagram: "I’m a series regular in @Emmerdale and I’ll be playing Nate Robinson. So glad we can finally announce this.

"We had to keep quiet for what felt like the longest. Cliche as it is, I really can’t put into words how much this means. Feel truly blessed and grateful for it and for everyone that’s truly supported me and help make it happen. From my beautiful family, beautiful agent and everyone at Emmerdale."

Despite his soap role, Jurell tends to keep his private life out of the spotlight with his Instagram being filled with snaps of him working out and enjoying time with pals.

However, the 29 year old once found himself having to deny he'd posted an explicit photograph on his Instagram Stories, as fans jumped to conclusions over the topless selfie.

People began to message the actor thinking the snap was from a sex tape, prompting him to quickly shut down the accusations.

“Let a man live. I was on my spin bike," Jurell told his followers.

Jurell has been involved in some steamy scenes since he joined Emmerdale, and the 29 year old previously revealed that he found it "overwhelming" at first.

He told the Mirror about being thrown in at the deep end straight away: "The sex scenes have been a bit overwhelming really. I did a student film and I had one scene which was just a little peck, so it was a big contrast to what I was doing here. But I had to just kind of embrace it and go with it."

To get into shape for his topless scenes the actor said he lost a stone and a half.
