Emmerdales Lloyd star Matt Suttons life off screen including past soap roles

There was another dramatic night afoot in the dales on Thursday, when Emmerdale’s Lloyd Sawyer passed away after weeks of fighting for his life in hospital following a brutal altercation with Dan Spencer.

As regular viewers will know, Lloyd first appeared on our screens earlier this summer, when he became unhealthily obsessed with Dan’s daughter Amelia, after discovering her account on social media.

Initially following her online, things soon took a turn for the worst when he cornered her at her place of work and even found out her address in scenes that understandably scared the young mum.

Despite being warned off, Lloyd took things one step further when he goaded Dan by saying he intended to see much more of Amelia, prompting the protective dad to punch Lloyd during a tense altercation.

Unfortunately however, as Lloyd fell to the ground, he smacked his head on a rock – an injury which would ultimately go on to claim his life and set in motion a chain of events that will change Dan and Amelia’s lives forever.

Lloyd may have met his maker on Thursday night’s episode, but eagle-eyed fans may recognise actor Matt Sutton for another reason entirely as he has previously appeared in the soap playing two different roles entirely!

Matt first played PC Nicholas Palmer in 2008 and then re-appeared in the soap as Shadarach Dingle in 2017.

Emmerdale isn’t the only place fans may recognise him either, as he has previously appeared in a slew of other shows including Goal II: Living the Dream (2007), A Royal Night Out (2015) and The Duke (2020).

In addition, Matt has also honed an impressive theatre career too, including performances at the RSC; Chichester Festival Theatre; Hampstead; Paines Plough; Lyric Hammersmith; Northern Broadsides; Hull Truck; Leeds Playhouse and the Orange Tree.

Matt has even turned his hand to stand up comedy in the past too and has recently picked up a number of voice over jobs alongside his very own podcast.

Keen to embrace acting from a young age, Matt first discovered his gift thanks to his father, who was also a much loved performer in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company.

His mother too appears to have been a performer by trade after she met and fell for Matt’s dad a a singing competition before embarking on a whirlwind romance.
