As boujie and glamorous as it must be to be a royal, with their back to back black tie events, endless pot of money and access to the most gorgeous and expensive clothes, but, there are some downsides to being in the spotlight and part of the Royal Family.
As many people know, there are strict rules they must follow that The Queen has put in place, some are totally understandable and some, lets just say are a little dated but all Royal Family members must follow them.
In particular there’s strict rules surrounding what the female members can and cannot wear and, as you can imagine, some rules have been broken from time to time, here’s our favourite rule breakers…
Meghan Markle’s pant suits
We’re all well aware that the former Suits star loves to be a female boss in a trouser suit from some of her favourite designers such as Givenchy, but this happens to be a strict rule that’s seriously frowned upon.
The royal women typically wear skirts and dresses to formal events as this is The Queen's preference – naughty naughty Meghan.
Low cut tops
Revealing your cleavage is an absolute no no for a royal lady. The Queen insists that the female royals must remain modest with their fashion choices.
However, the late Princess Diana wore a Catherine Walker strappy mini dress which certainly caught a few peoples attention.
Above the knee hemlines
The Duchess of Cambridge is certainly an advocate for sticking to the royal style protocol but she too has been spotted breaking a rule or two.
It is encouraged that a skirt or dress should never lie more than four inches above the knee. However, the mother-of-three broke this rule back in 2019 when attending The Royal Foundation’s ‘Mental Health in Education’ conference.
The brunette beauty wore a tweed skirt suit from Dolce & Gabbana which happened to be quite short and was re-worn again in 2020.
Heads covered for public engagements
It’s so rare to see the Monarch without a hat or head scarf, so we thought it was pretty brave of Meghan to sit next to The Queen herself hatless at an event in Chester.
We can imagine The Queen wasn’t too thrilled about it, but Meghan did look particularly classy in a cream Givenchy number.
Wedges
It’s believed that wedges are banned from being worn in The Queen’s presence and she much prefers a stiletto court heel.
Kate Middleton appeared to forget this and can often be seen sporting a pair for various royal occasions, however we do love her nude Castaner pair.
