Five tips to spice-up your sex life instantly – from toys to timing

Feeling unsatisfied in the bedroom? You're not alone.

And the survey pinpointed the most common reasons Brits stop getting jiggy.

A sizeable 45% said they skip sex when they're too tired, while 29% cited stress as the main factor.

Other common reasons include libido changes (28%), mismatched sex drives (20%) and loss of intimacy outside of the bedroom (19%).

Thankfully, there are ways to get your love life back on track though.

Elisabeth Neumann, Head of User Research at Lovehoney, shared her top tips to reignite passion in the bedroom.

These include…

1. Schedule time for intimate pleasure

While scheduling your romps may not sound like the sexiest idea, it can be the only way to make sure they actually happen.

Elisabeth said: “In long-term relationships, the tasks and responsibilities of everyday life may take over.

"Try to schedule intimacy time in your calendars, making time for each other is a useful trick to bring back the excitement.

"Change the expectation that scheduled intimacy time needs to lead to penetration and you have the perfect setting to explore each other without pressure.”

2. Give yourself a sexy make-over

If you look great, you'll feel great.

And putting in some effort may even give you the confidence to take more control in the sack.

The sexpert explained: “You can buy lingerie or a sexy outfit for yourself to enjoy the pleasure of feeling sexy – the self-esteem boost will increase the excitement and adventure in your relationship.”

3. Try something new

Variety is the spice of life – so try not to get into the habit of sticking to routine.

Elisabeth said: “Sex education for adults is growing.

"Many educational workshops for couples are available today, both online and offline.

"You can try beginners' classes for almost anything: Tantra, sensual massage, kink… If you feel shy, an online workshop might be a good start”

4. Introduce sex toys

These aren't just great for solo play, they're fun to experiment with alongside your partner too.

The love guru remarked: “The world of sex toys is constantly developing, and there are many products out there that might be fun and interesting for you.

"For example, the c-shaped We-Vibe enhances penetration, and is even wearable for outdoor play as a kink introduction.”

5. Be vulnerable with each other

Communication is key – so make sure you are opening up about your likes and dislikes.

It's also important to spend quality time with your other half to really work on that emotional connection.

Elisabeth added: “Research shows that the more secure we feel with a partner, the more the eroticism declines in a partnership.

"Find activities with your partner that allow both of you to be vulnerable, and to share emotions or sides of you that your partner might not have seen before.”
