Gemma Owen releases dupe for her £20k necklace – but it’ll still set you back a hefty sum

Fans of Love Island got obsessed with a certain necklace Gemma Owen was seen wearing daily on the summer's season of Love Island, but as they found out the hefty price, they were quick to look for dupes.

The search is now over, as Gemma has released a collection with identical necklaces to a fraction of the price.

The 19-year-old has been rocking said diamond choker since way back in December 2021, and we don't think she was ever seen without it during her time in the villa.

The necklace, which was a gift from her dad, former football player Michael Owen, is a vintage Tiffany & Co x Schlumberger piece, designed in the 1980s and set with brilliant diamonds alternating with golden Xs to create the statement design.

While the necklace itself might be near-impossible to source, the matching sixteen stone ring is still available to buy from Tiffany & Co.

But as it's priced at £10,600, fans are desperately trying to look for a dupe at a more reasonable priced. And they need to look no futher, as Gemma has now collaborated with British jewellery brand, Abbott Lyon, to make replicating her iconic look more affordable.

While it's still priced at a whopping £95 for a bracelet and £99 for the choker, it's miles cheaper that the Tiffany&Co original. You now also have the chance to personalise the jewellery to your taste by replacing some of the x's with different letters.

About the collection, Gemma said: "Designing a collection with Abbott Lyon has been a dream from start to finish. I’ve been totally involved every step of the way and I knew Abbott Lyon was the only brand I could trust to bring my vision to life."

A few months ago, TikTok star Briege Elder posted an exposé on Gemma's necklace as she's been seen wearing it for the majority of the show. The video goes into great detail about not only the brand of jewellery but similar items and their availability.

At the top of the video, Briege said: "We need to talk about Gemma Owen’s gorgeous necklace that she is never seen without.

"About a week into the series I noticed this necklace and thought that looks kinda familiar and also it’s kinda expensive. And I was right. The necklace is part of the Tiffany and Co. Graffiti X collection."

She added: "However, Gemma's is a gold choker-style which means a lot thicker and it also has diamonds embellished."

Briege wasn't able to find an exact quote for Gemma's particular style but mentioned its resale value starts at a massive £7,500 for a version without diamonds. She then estimated Gemma's retails for £15,000 – £20,000.

Twitter and TikTok users were quick to correct Briege by saying the necklace could be almost double her guess, sitting somewhere around £40,000 if brand new.

The Daily Star reported the necklace features 92 “round brilliant cut diamonds” alternating between 18k yellow gold X’s, per luxury online second-hand marketplace 1stdibs. It’s unclear exactly how much the necklace originally retailed for, but the one that’s already been nabbed on 1stdibs sold for £41,531.65.

Several comments on social media surfaced claiming Gemma's piece is a bespoke item from a vintage collection with only a handful being made in history. So fans are now thrilled to get to have their own version of the iconic necklace to a fraction of the original price.
