Hollywood Producer Lee Daniels Lists His $7.2 Million Chic Coldwater Canyon Home

According to Dirt, A little over four years ago, Lee Daniels bought a West Coast outpost sited on a secluded cul-de-sac in the mountains above Beverly Hills, deep within the Coldwater Canyon area. Now the Oscar-nominated film and TV director, producer and writer — best known for his work on “Monster’s Ball,” “Precious” and “Empire” — has hoisted the property he shares with longtime partner and stylist Jahil Fisher back onto the market. The asking price is a speck over $7.2 million, or nearly $2.4 million more than Daniels doled out for the boxy modern home back in July 2018.

Originally built in the early 1950s, the place underwent an extensive redesign in 2017. Upon moving in, Daniels also engaged his friend, interior designer Roxy Sowlaty, to help customize the premises to his personal tastes, per a 2019 Architectural Digest article — complete with exact replicas of pieces in his Manhattan apartment, like the piano that friends Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz play when they visit, as well as artwork by Obama portraitist Kehinde Wiley and New Orleans-based painter Harouni.

Tucked away down a wide gated driveway, on a woodsy parcel spanning almost an acre, the striking metal-sided structure is fronted by an attached two-car garage and spacious motor court. Inside, four bedrooms and five baths are spread across just over 5,200 square feet of serene charcoal, white and ebony interiors adorned throughout with heated slate floors, wood-paneled walls and ceilings, and large expanses of glass.

A floating steel and wood staircase ascends past a cascading tri-level koi fountain on the way to the main living areas. From there, highlights include a fireside living room sporting the aforementioned personal accoutrement, along with a TV room and an office space. A dining area connects to a gourmet kitchen, which is outfitted with black granite countertops, an eat-in island, a butler’s pantry and top-tier appliances, including a pricey La Cornue range and hood.

Upstairs, a 1,000-square-foot master retreat is jazzed up with a two-way fireplace, private balcony overlooking canyon and treetop views, and bespoke walk-in closet and dressing room. A luxe bath is equipped with rain-sensor skylights, a soaking tub and glass-encased shower holding court right in the middle of the room; and outdoors, the lushly landscaped grounds host an upper-level yoga deck, plus a deck down below offering several spots ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining, a small lap pool and detached library.
