DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE strong feelings for a woman I’ve known for a year.
I long to tell her how I feel but I struggle socially and worry about finding the right words.
We dated briefly and became good friends but I don’t know if she wants more than this.
She has been incredibly supportive towards me throughout lockdown by keeping my spirits up, usually via text messages.
I am 25 and she is 28. She doesn’t always reply to my texts and this makes me anxious about telling her how I feel.
I know she is very busy with her job in marketing and her spare time is precious.
Now I try not to text too much, as I don’t want to be seen as being needy. But these feelings won’t go away.

DEIDRE SAYS: Take the chance while it is there or you risk losing her when she finds someone else.
Ask her out for a drink or to see a film or a band.
It can seem terrifying but tell her you like her a lot and would like to be more than friends – but that you will settle for friendship if that is all she wants.
Best of luck.
And remember . . . you only live once.
Take a chance.
