DEAR DEIDRE: I WORK with a guy who is lazy, selfish and lacks motivation. I’m a 36-year-old man and my colleague’s 41.
He hasn’t been carrying out his role and responsibilities which sadly led to another member of staff, our manager, being sacked.
My co-worker didn’t carry out the jobs assigned to him which caused problems for our boss as he was unable to organise and sort the workload on to our computer system.
The work built up and after a review, it made him look bad. As a result, he was fired. This guy has no remorse. I’m not even sure he’s aware he is the one that caused the trouble that led to our manager being let go.
He just makes jokes about it around my peers. I have reported him to my supervisor, but nothing has happened. I want to make an example of him but I’m not sure what to do.

DEIDRE SAYS: Don’t take matters into your own hands – it could backfire horribly, and you’ll end up looking like a troublemaker.
If it feels possible, speak to him and HR. Tell him his behaviour led to someone losing their job and that’s no laughing matter.
He needs to sort himself out. You can get further advice and support from Acas (acas.org.uk, 0300 123 1100).
