I'm a sleep expert – here's how your favourite position is ruining your chance of a good night's rest | The Sun

THOSE who sleep on their front could be scuppering their chances of a good night's rest, an expert has revealed.

Sleep posture expert James Leinhardt says the position forces sleepers to twist to one side, putting strain on their muscles.

Sharing his advice on TikTok, he shows how front sleepers will automatically twist their neck to one side to avoid face planting the pillow.

They'll also tend to have one knee poised in the air – forcing their muscles to extend for long periods of time.

James, who goes by username @Levitex, explains: "When you lie on a front like this these muscles have to extend for prolonged periods of time to maintain this position.

"Muscles don't like to be tense for long periods of time.

"None of you ever watched TV like this [neck to one side] so why would you spend hours and hours twisting your neck?"

In another clip, he insists the position is "not a problem" and "very easy to fix".

And he goes on to demonstrate how with a few simple tweaks, dozers can achieve a similar stance.

"Simply grab your arm, you're going to bring it through so your ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles are all nicely stacked on top of each other," James explains.
