A social media influencer has come under fire after posting a video mocking a man who couldn't afford food on his date.
The video, posted on January 16 by Messie Cee shows him sitting with a group of friends while filming a couple sitting at the bar at a Chili’s restaurant.
He claimed the man had told his wife she couldn't get a particular item from the menu because he couldn't afford it and decided to criticise the man for it online.

In the clip, which has gained more than 8,000 likes, he said: "We in Chili’s, me and my crew and them on the side of me.

"She wanted to order something. Her man said ‘You can’t get that I don’t have enough money for that.
"Ain’t no mother**king way my husband would take me to Chili’s and I can’t get whatever the f**k I want.
“This ain’t even Ruth Chris (Steakhouse). This is Chili’s, everything is $18 and under. So I’m mad with him, I’m definitely mad with him.
"She need to run. If he can’t buy you Chili’s — they got 2-for-20 here — you need to leave."
The video has since sparked a huge debate online after being 'stitched' by fitness influencer Joey "Swoll" Sergo.
"Swoll" gained over a million views on the TikTok clip he posted on Valentine's Day slamming the influencer for mocking the situation.
He said: "This video is so sad, so disappointing to see. Times are hard for a lot of people, there’s a lot of couples out there that can’t afford to go out and eat tonight.
"I know how that feels, I’ve been that guy. How about you be grateful that you have enough money to buy what you want on that menu, to take care of your friends, your loved ones, instead of shaming this man.
"I can’t believe people think this is okay to do to another human being today. You need to do better, mind your own f***king business."
Viewers took to the comments to share their views – with many agreeing with Joey that the original video was uncalled for.
One user said: "Man, you’re at Chilis acting fancy."

A third commented: “Instead of shaming them, offer to buy them dinner!”
However, some users agreed with the original video as they argued that the couple shouldn't eat out if they can't afford it.
One user wrote: "They should go where their budget allows."
