The home
A two-storey, four-bedroom contemporary house in Melbourne’s south-east with three living areas, a study and a swimming pool.
Who lives here
Aimee Tarulli, stylist and founder of Archer Interiors, her husband Frank, a director of Thomas Archer Homes, and their children Leo, 9, and Rosie, 7.
What we did
“Frank and I found an unliveable house on the best street, demolished it, then built a home that is perfectly tailored to our lifestyle,” says Aimee.
My favourite room
“The formal lounge, as I love the mix of wall textures and the sunken floor,” says Aimee. “It grabs your attention the moment you step in the front door.”
The ’hood
“We’re close to the beach and there are excellent cafes within walking distance – there’s a great buzz here,” says Aimee.
Future plans
“We are planning another build in bayside Melbourne and hope to do it all again soon.”
Best advice
“Don’t feel you can’t have nice furniture because you have kids,” says Aimee. “If you’re clever with fabric and material choices you can enjoy what you want now.”
“We save the main dining area for special occasions such as dinner parties,”says Aimee. “Sitting there always feels special.” The dining chairs are by Zuster. Credit:Armelle Habib
“We wanted the kitchen to feel like a beautiful piece of furniture,” says Aimee. “We have a vast butler’s pantry that allows for all the grunt work to be hidden away.” Credit:Armelle Habib

“Being open to the bedroom, I wanted the ensuite to make a statement, so I chose a natural Elba stone tile which makes the space feel very glamorous,” says Aimee. Credit:Armelle Habib.

“I wanted to achieve a ‘gallery’ feel in the hallway. It’s a great space to hang large statement art,” says Aimee. The large artwork is by George Raftopoulos. Credit:Armelle Habib
