Inside British strip club that’s adapted during lockdown with ‘electric’ shows

A British strip club has adapted well during the coronavirus pandemic.

After being closed for 15 months due to lockdown restrictions, Rude reopened in Liverpool.

The renowned gentleman’s club, owned by shrewd businesswoman Amy Gwynn, has been revamped to make the environment safer for dancers and punters.

But to ensure the atmosphere is still electric, an American-style stage has been installed to showcase the erotic performers.

Amy said: “After being closed from March 2020 until the last weekend of May 2021, I knew I needed to do something and adapt Rude so that both our self-employed dancers and guests could return to a safe and fully licensed, sexual entertainment environment.

“Rude has been open in Liverpool for over a decade and is the UK’s biggest strip club – reopening was a must!”

The 33-year-old continued: “In all of the government’s announcements, the industry has been ignored but it won’t just go away.

“Adults will find other ways of accessing sexual entertainment and the girls will find other ways to make money as they’re self-employed and received little support.

“I think this is dangerous as the sexual entertainment industry is regulated, monitored and therefore safe, and so reopening Covid-secure has allowed me to welcome dancers back in a safe working environment, give them their livelihood and allow both men and women to come to a venue to enjoy the electric atmosphere we’ve created.”

Amy says the dancers aren’t the only ones who are chuffed with the reopening.

Apparently, the energy has been amazing since guests returned back at the venue.

Rude owner Amy said: “After a series of lockdowns, I knew that I had to come up with something and adapt to enable Rude to reopen and get the girls back into work.

“We’re very fortunate that we have such a big venue with a stage and after much consideration, we decided to reopen with American-style live stage shows where tips are thrown on stage whilst the girls perform, which means that everyone is socially distanced.

“We’ve found that this style of entertainment has created an amazing atmosphere where the dancers can feed off each other’s infectious energy, and guests who would prefer not to have a private lap dance can experience the entertainment in a group setting.

“It’s light-hearted entertainment and our guests are really happy to be back at Rude.”

With government guidelines in mind, Rude is operating with table service only.

Dance booths for private performances are closed at the moment – but will reopen when the government says it’s safe to do so.

The strip club, which is based on Liverpool’s Duke Street, is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9pm to 4am.

They’re looking forward to welcoming punters back – so will you be paying it a visit?
